Why do we drive on parkways and park on driveways? This has bothered me for quite some time.

Why is something delivered by vehicle a shipment, while something delivered by boat is cargo? That one has bothered me for some time now.

I grew up in Chicago. Garages were used for cars unless you had more than 2. As I moved south, I began noticing cars in the driveway and stuff in the garage. I started to ask and eventually came up with there are no basements in the south to put stuff in.
