The link below is to a simple 10 question science test on the Mother Nature Network website that I read. I think most everyone here can answer all 10 correctly. The interesting thing is when answered, they also give a percentage of people who took the test that answered correctly. One simple question was does the earth revolve around the sun or vise versa. Surprised at the percentage of people who answered incorrectly.

10/10. Easy peasy.

9/10

Only because I went against my better judgment thinking one of them was a trick question lol

I got 10/10. I do have a bit of an issue with the word explosion for the Big Bang. It was more of an expansion. ?

(10/10) But I suspect some religious fundamentalists are not ignorant of what science says about evolution and big bang but still believe them to be false.

The big bang is actually debatable among some scientists.

@Piece2YourPuzzle Interesting to read these ideas.

If most of respondents were youngish, what are they being taught in schools? Considering I’m old and my brain cells are dying at an alarming rate, I did very well. 10/10.

I got 8.

Some of the wording of the questions was a bit dodgy. And the big bang is a theory.

I had no idea about the size of electrons and atoms. I suspect I'm not alone in that regard.

I don’t feel like doing any research on this, but I suspect the quiz was written by and for idiots with questionable motivation. Was it just to make people feel superior? Or was it just to gather page clicks?

The beginning of the quiz it has a link to the National Science Board which is linked to the National Science Foundation. My guess is they keep it simple and things people should know at high school level tops.

I got all 10, but felt some were a little tricky. Like the universe started with a big explosion. I assumed, correctly, they were referring to the Big Bang Theory. But it is a theory. The best we have at this time, but not proven.

@atheist

The key word - 'repeated'.

The very first thing that started pushing me away from church, was the anti science sentiment that I was hearing from other members of the church. It is very common in today's congregations. i don't understand it. If you really believe God is real, you have nothing to fear from science.

2

That was very easy. It's scary what some people don't know.

Why is it scary?

To think you guys can vote and carry guns ffs

eye aint got to be so smart to carry gun and god told me what to vote.

We live in a very ignorant world.

I must be ignorant then.

@Ellatynemouth I have no idea why you would say that. I know nothing about you so I can not respond to that. The fact that you are a member of Agnostic.com would indicate you are not ignorant. IMHO

@jlynn37

Apologies. The OP assumed everyone would achieve 10/10, inferring anything below equals ignorance.

@Ellatynemouth Nope, I stated most. Nothing wrong with an incorrect answer. How we learn things.
