When down by the river, l was able to catch some pics of this young armadillo just outside its burrow....l think it's the same one that was in the yard before, but was able to get much closer this time...?

I've never seen one in person. They look pretty cute

WOW!

It's awesome to see them up close like that...in their natural environment...just doing their 'Armadillo thang'!?

2

excellent! they are cool little guys. their babies are all clones of each other from the littler or whatever they call it. I useta love finding them in west texas.

I know...they are so cute when they're tiny....all walking in a line following their mother! ?

1

Not many of them in Minnesota. 😉

Those babies sure mess up a yard..

Used to drive a propane truck in West Texas and every other day would see one of those as 'road kill'. Curious looking animals and probably pretty smart, for as long as they've been around.

Yea, l think they have poor eyesight and thus make easy targets...but definitely interesting little things!?

i want one

They're the Texas state animal l believe...but this one's mine!?

Some of them carry leprosy.

@birdingnut l know....l mentioned that in a previous post awhile back...

Cute!

I took a bunch more pics...as he/she was milling around...it was watching us and sniffing the air...stayed close to the burrow in case it had to dart inside...fun to watch!?

I love rat turtles! ?

Never heard them called that...but it makes sense!?

Does he tear up anything?

They dig around and make little holes here and there, but it doesn't bother me...the neighbors used to just shoot them because they thought their precious 'lawn' was more important than a creature's life....(but that guy died of cancer and his wife moved away)...?

@Free_2B_Me I have possums. They don't hurt much, either.

@farmboy2017 We have possums too, just don't see them as often...this armadillo is used to us l think, because we see it out in the day time.

@Free_2B_Me A lot of animals we think are nocturnal are actually dinural. Racoons and coyotes, for example. Maybe this guy is too? And possums for sure.

@farmboy2017 l don't know if that's true or not...what l do know is l've lived here over 21 years and they've always been seen at night or early morning...not when it's normal daylight hours...so this one is different for sure!?

Wow. You and I live on different planets.

How so? They don't have Armadillos where you live??

@Free_2B_Me
Um....only at the zoo.
I've been told that they are tasty.

@bigpawbullets ???

@Free_2B_Me
🙂

@bigpawbullets
Would you, could you, in a box?
Would you, could you, with a fox?
Would you hit me with a pillow?
Would you eat an Armadillo...???

???

@Free_2B_Me
Might do the third.
Probably not the fourth.
😉

@bigpawbullets Sorry...couldn't help it...silliness ensues sometimes!?
