Impromptu 2000 mile trip up the left coast and back.
My 83 year old mom had surgery on her back yesterday. Everything went fine, but a couple hours later she was in severe pain. Finally, with the help of an MRI, they discovered a blood clot, and wheeled her back in for another surgery. During the second surgery, her blood pressure spiked at some absurdly high number. She's in ICU now, but expected to recover.
So I'm taking a few days off work and riding from Fresnope to Richland, WA. I've been putting off service on my bike till I could find the time, and it needs brake lines flushed and valve clearances checked. I called my dealer (Herwaldt Motorsports) and told them my problem, and they're getting me in first thing tomorrow morning. I'll pick up my bike around 5PM and head north. Prolly won't make it much past the CA/OR border tomorrow night, and I'll roll out a sleeping bag behind a tree or someg. That puts me about 7-8 hours from her house for Saturday's ride. It's not really 2000 miles round trip. It's only 900 each way.
Wish me luck, or pray for me and mom, if you're so inclined. But don't tell me or I'll laugh at you 😉

Enjoy the ride - not the best ride along freeways - but hope it's OK. You have the right style of bike to cover big distances.

I've done 650 miles in a day on a similar bike - Triumph Explorer - it took just under 12 hours with 2 stops to refuel.
Surprisingly, I still felt pretty fresh when I arrived and could have ridden further if I had to.

Hope your mum recovers soon, your bike is ready on time and you have decent weather for your night under canvas.

No preying here but safe travels and wishing her a speedy recovery.

Ride safe, and best wishes for the health of your mother.
