Sadly no longer with us, I regard Russian opera singer Dimitri Hvorostovsky to be the finest bass/baritone of recent years, until his untimely death from a brain tumour in 2017 aged 55. Here he sings the well known and loved aria from Handel’s opera Xerxes (or Seres), probably better known as Handel’s Largo.
