Miriam Makeba singing Mbube (The Lion Sleeps Tonight) Guessing this to be in the 'seventies or 'eighties
This song has an interesting history. It was first recorded in 1939, in a Johannesburg studio by Solomon Linda, over a background of vocal chants. He named it Mbube, which is the Zulu word for lion. It went on to become one of the most famous songs in the world, recorded in many languages. The English version, "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" has been recorded by over 150 artists and appears in more than 15 feature films.
