If you stand by the Catholic Church, if you donate time and money to this organization, you are complicit. There is no way around it. This will not be the last report. It will not be the worst report. It is just the latest in a long line. And we all know this to be true. If you still support the Catholic Church, you are complicit in the rape of children and its cover up. If you think that is too harsh, start thinking about the victims instead.

I church has shown its true colors. Yet another reason NOT to call myself a Christian and yet one more point where this demonstrates the pure evil of ALL organized religions. The way it harms society. Where was their God when this was happening?

Yes, the all loving Christian God who says
I give you free will to do evil, and I will stand by and watch you rape a child and then punish you later, but the child? Well I'll ignore him or her it will be character building for them.

The Christian God is a right C%nt

I think that some of the blame should also fall on the parents who gave up their power so the preist had that much power.

Especially if you consider that those same parents may have been victims of pervert Priests too, perhaps for Catholics this is seen as some sick rite of passage.

@LenHazell53 I wasgetting at the fact that the parents weren't invalved enough in the childs life that the child wouldn't confide in their parents or that they wouldn't see a change in the child

I believe you are right! I’m glad I left ten years ago. It wasn’t soon enough. I left because of the misogyny. Little did I know that the reason they don’t want women around is probably because of the sexual abuse. Don’t trust this pope for a minute. His job Is to protect the organization! Damm them! They have destroyed so many lives!

The report does raise abuse by nuns too, though more cruelty and violent than sexual, this church (all of them actually) especially ingrains guilt and frustration so deeply it psychologically damages it's vulnerable adherents and attracts perverts and sadomasochists.

@LenHazell53 oh yes. I can tell you of some incidents about the degrading comments and the assignment of guilt by the nuns. When I was in high school we had a nun on the faculty who had a vitriolic tongue. She had a young boy standing up in class and she was viciously taking him apart. He punched her and knocked her down, stepped over her and left school. It was shocking. We all thought she had it coming but no one dared say anything. I will never forget that.

@IAmLove Hmmm I wonder how she explained away to herself Gawd not protecting her?

Pope Francis has just left Ireland after asking forgiveness for all the abuses of the Church. About half a million people attended and applauded. I guess he is hoping that an apology is enough. There was no talk about the legal necessity to refer abusers to the police. They appear to be adamant about keeping their abuse cases in-house.

Sorry doesn’t cut it any more.

@IAmLove stand by for a great "falling away" in the next year or so

@IAmLove True. I think sorry has lost its power from being abused so much. It means little more than let me off but don’t expect me to stop doing it. However, sorry should not cover criminal actions. Justice has to come into it.

@icolan That's it in a nutshell!

@brentan yes, they protect felons. Who the hell says they are above the law? ....god I guess.

Posted by CliffordCookI groaned when I saw this Christian Nationalist Christmas meme posted by one of Donald Trump's supporters in Iowa. Then, I smiled when I saw how many of his Facebook friends had reposted it.
