A highly biased selection. Ely S. Parker is a significant but little known person in American History, and he is one of my ancestors ( I have many notable Haudenosaunee ancestors which is not too surprising since they are all related to each other). Though referred to as a "novel", Grant's Indian (I hate the title) is possibly closer to the truth than Parker's actual very understated autobiography. It does draw very heavily from the real history but adds some "embellishments" that seem very probable due to other references and the situation.
