There is a billionaire, Clive Palmer, that's trying to build a Titanic 2. Modern propulsion and navigation but looking like the Titanic everywhere else.
It's very confusing.. I thought the plans had been scrapped.
Should such a ship be built, to carry fee paying passengers, then I presume it will differ from the original in many ways, in order to make it comply with modern safety regulations. In effect this would make it an imitation and not a replica.
I doubt any replica will be 100% faithful to the original design because modern day passengers demand televisions, showers and en-suite bathrooms and toilets.
It's on again off again. No his titanic will be modern where it counts, and the rest will look like the original. It will have enough lifeboats for all crew and passengers, no doubt about that, also the hull will be welded not riveted. I doubt it will have mail like the original, RMS stands for Royal Mail Steamer, and Titanic had about 600,000 pieces of mail on board.
I know it sounds bad, but I wouldn't be interested unless it was identical.
@Ellatynemouth I wouldn't mind the new stuff as long as everything looked the same. If it didn't look just like Titanic, what's the point, it's just another cruise ship.
The point is seeing and doing what they did menu's and all.
I heard about that, is he Australian? I also heard his plans were put on hold for now. That would be interesting if a near-replica of the Titanic could be constructed, that would sort of almost be like a fu-- you nature you can't hold humanity back kind of deal. When nature deals a blow, humanity finds a way to carry on.
He is, it's on again off again. Building a 600 million ship ain't the easiest thing to do.
