@hankster his electoral college win was razor thin - under 100,000 votes. The only thing I'm actually worried about is election interferance, in which case it doesn't matter who the candidates are at all.

@St-Sinner I'll be more suprised if he's even eligible to run than if he wins. State polling is starting to show that senators continuing to back Trump are falling and net favorability ratings going underwater. Once polling shows a senater that backing trump will cost them thier seat, they wont back him anymore. There's a very real chance that in a month or so it'll be clear to McConnell that the Senate can't guarantee acquittal and will tell Trump so - and force him to resign so they can try to keep the Senate majority. There's a part of me that thinks Pelosi *wants* the Senate to acquit to show that the Senate is broken and the Republican majority is why to try and recapture the majority. I'm positive she wouldn't have begun impeachment procedings unless she knows it puts them between a rock and a hard place in 20.

@Shawno1972 well I've been married to 2 nurse case managers (yes, I have a type) whose job it is to manage the care of patients insured by thier employers, so I can assure you that yes, they do manage care for patients - very well, in fact. There has to be a mechanism to pay the people who provide care, which happens to be what insurance companies do and are good at. Let's scrap all that and build it all over to do *the exact same thing* is, quite frankly, a silly notion and akin to reinventing the wheel just because you don't like the colour of the one you have. Sure there are other ways to do it, but can you do it without disrupting the entire healthcare industry - resulting in people not getting the care they need? Can you do it in an economically reasonable manor that doesn't crash portions of the economy? The fact is that there's waste all over the place and focusing the blame on an industry that everyone hates is shortsighted. This is a complex, multidimensional issue that cant be reduced to a simple solution or slogan. It's taken decades to get this fucked up and it's going to take serious effort on all sides to get it back under control.

@Shawno1972 a single payer system would still require someone to distribute the funds - and to coordinate care, which is what insurance companies do. Look, I'm not saying insurance companies aren't an issue, what I'm saying is the reflex, knee jerk reaction to blaming insurance companies for the problem is wildly uninformed.

@Donotbelieve summers on the west side qualify as awesome. Bit too hot in central/eastern wash for my tastes but going to deal with it. Winters on the west side are coldish, damp, and grey - only bad if you have seasonal affect disorder - with a foot or two of snow every couple years and most the time it's above freezing. Eastern usually is colder with more snow in the winter. It's really a great place to live. Lots to do and see, decently responsible government, good economy, lots of good fresh food produced locally, and oxygen is still free. We're currently house shopping in the tri cities area, lots of sun but not blistering hot for to long - my partner is from Albuquerque and needs some sun (think you know her from here, actually) - and the winters there aren't too bad, very tolerable.

@NoPlanetB actually Bush v Gore was when public trust in the supreme court's legitimacy took a high hit and started to erode, Trump and McConnell just no longer care about the courts legitimacy and don't care if we know it of not. #4 i didn't like at all, but #5 sounds pretty good to me, although a random selection or an established order won't necessarily prevent a slightly stacked court. Small fish considering what we've got now.

@LiterateHiker I said "fairly", and you did tell someone you wanted to see how something worked out with Dave, hence the "waiting in the wings" quip. So I was wondering if, at all, that influenced your descision/feelings/tolerance for Dave. Did you go out with him longer to give him more of a chance, shorter because you knew someone else was interested in you, or no effect at all? In light of your "only date one man at a time" rule I think itd be interesting for me, and maybe importaint to you to know if it has any effect - even slightly - on your decisions regarding your romantic interests.

@LiterateHiker I know you don't always do that, but these last few have been fairly rapid fire so it just got me to wondering, is all, if increased availability (in the form of its easier to find people with similar interests now) leads to a quicker ending of a relationship than it used to. Like I said, not trying to single you out or question what or how you date. You're offering information and I intend to take advantage of that. :)
