Regrets - Do you have any?

So by the same train of thought, you would have no trouble dating a JW or Muslim? Also, there is an inherent lack of respect inherent from the guy here. She clearly stated in her profile this was non-negotiable. Now it matters not what that may be, smoking, skydiving, beards, political or religious views, no brown M&Ms, or whatever. You may ask in a message 1st "Okay I have never skydived but I am willing to try" but to ignore a fundamental request at the get-go does not bode well for the future.

I merely put down a few of the worst profile lines I could think of, hopefully, encouraging others to start a humorous thread. @St-Sinner A democratic socialist is not the same as a socialist. The former want a redistribution of wealth by democratic means ie taxation and some services in the public sector like medicine. The latter wants a full confiscation of wealth and all services like utilities, transport, and most industry owned by the state. Some redistribution of wealth is essential in any mixed economy. Otherwise, it will only flow upwards and the rich will live in closed communities where everyone else will live in shanty/trailer townships

If you boil veg it leaches out the goodness, roast, and they lose texture but mico and you keep both. I have a small microwave rice/veg cooking pot. Corncobs, broccoli, or even just a peeled onion, come out perfect. If I roast potatoes? I will just give them 5 mins before the oven (no water), rather than part-boil them 1/2 -3/4 of an hour in the oven. Crispy on the outside, soft in the middle, just right.

@brentan Oh but it does. Young boys were given to a mentor to train. Homosexuality was the norm in Sparta. You attacked with your right hand whilst defending the guy on your left with your shield. It was thought that you would be more loyal to someone you had had sex with than just another comrade The trouble was that guys got too into gay sex and it became a problem for them to make babies with their wives. One trick was where the wife would dress as a young boy and get a room in the tavern. Hubby would go out drinking with his mates and then take a break. Fuck his wife doggie style then return to the table. Even those ploys grew stale though and Spartans went from a large force to an elite officer class. Eventually being beaten by the Thracians

What is brainwashing as opposed to teaching? Your time's tables, the lords' prayer, or pledge of allegiance. All mastered by rote and repartition. The ends are different but not the means. A child has no more reason to doubt their elders when it comes to God giving us our daily bread than it has to doubt 7x7=49 or one nation under God indivisible, with liberty and justice for all They simply repeat and recite until it`s in there forever. And it never stops. Advertising agencies are spending millions dreaming up new slogans. Repeat them often enough and you will buy their crap. Otherwise, why would they bother? Common prayer and hymns also reinforces the childhood model into adulthood. Sports chants are similar. The collective pushing you towards a common unity. @gNappyHead There are groups on here and many sites inc. FB that are a-political. If a member posts something that breaches those guidelines then they will be asked to remove them or they will be deleted. Netflix is an entertainment business, however, art and politics sometimes overlap. Artists may wish to change society but it's not incumbent upon the vehicle for that art to incur possible financial losses for the artist's sake. If they did stand up to censorship? We could all applaud their stance but it would not pay the payroll. When the cartoon of Mohamed first appeared in a Danish magazine and the death threats followed. A campaign to get every western newspaper and publication to reprint the offending cartoon was organized. Had it been successful, the fundamentalist jihad would have had no specific target. Just a broad spectrum of newspaper outlets. Unfortunately, not one of our great, good, and worthy publications. from the NYT to the USA today, Guardian to the Sun stood up for the cause of a free press and put their money where their mouth is, not one. The results were what we saw in Demark and Paris. So if the Washington Post can chicken out? so can Netflix.

You fail to notice the sexualization of children going on all the time. Perhaps because I see with an outsider's eyes I notice the wood for the trees. The half-time show was raunchy but averagely so for any pop video that can be seen on MTV or Youtube. As for the time and place argument. You are watching 22 full-grown athletic guys, slam into each other with all the force they can muster. But heaven forbid that a little sex might accompany the violence. This is the kind of hypocrisy that makes me detest the Christian moralists that infect our society. You can watch theft, murder, and war on prime time TV but don't allude to where babies come from.

@TheMiddleWay Population density (people per sq. km) in the United States was reported at 35.77 sq. You are not going to get an exact match but taken against a broad spectrum of 1st world historically western democracies. From Ireland to N.Z., the Czech Republic to Canada, all with varying population densities and incomes some higher or lower but all with a lower religious population and crime rate. Add to that the USAs religious belief has been historically much higher, it is falling now as is, funnily enough, the crime rate. Now if a religious belief was a significant positive force in social control? We would see some evidence, when in fact we see the opposite. The way I see it is if you have some 17-year-old guy and you give him a set of nearly impossible rules then he is going to fail. If stealing a car and having a wank is both wrong then he has already guilty of a gateway sin and the car is just another one. Then you have those that lose their faith. If religion was all that kept you from bad choices then without it you are morally in the wild west. To make the case for Christianity as an effective means of social control is as I have demonstrated dubious at best and fallacious at worst. It is also been philosophically condemned on both sides. Bertrand Russell said you can make the same case for Santa and it is also condemned as heresy by the Catholic church.

@Cutiebeauty, Having an alternative place to be can add something to a relationship. If you are there because you WANT to be there, not HAVE to be there, it alters the dynamics. I have a friend who is going through some relationship problems atm. And a lot of it stems from her picking a fight after he has given her all his pay. He loves her and says that she loves him but he is a musician and that clashes with her stay at home mom's life. (not his kid). He still has his own flat but owes utility bills and for him to stay there it would cost about $100 to turn the lights back on. Now I only have his side but she has been deliberately cruel and vindictive. Yet this only happens when he is too poor to leave. It reminded me of my last long term relationship. I lived with J for 15 years. For the most part, we were happy but she was a mean drunk. On a regular basis, at some point in the month, her face would contort into a scowl and with foam spitting out of her mouth she would scream at me "YOU CAN JUST FUCK OFF!". The fact that I had nowhere to fuck off to would mean that I had to ride it out. I am human too and I am not saying that I did not sometimes respond in kind but it was not pleasant. In the morning she would have no memory of the night before and we indulged in makeup sex. Fast forward to after we broke up. I went round to hers for a drink and eventually, she starts getting nasty. I just said "goodnight" and left, with her saying "You can't just leave?" The next drink was at mine and the same thing happened but this time I called her a cab. We have had loads of drunken (platonic) nights since but that was the very last time she played the mean drunk act on me again and that was 7 years ago. I cannot help but think that if I had somewhere else to be all those years. Then maybe our neighbors would not have had to listen to our rants all the time? Who knows, we might have still been together?

@TheMiddleWay The whole premise of Barr is flawed anyway. It presupposes that the USA law is still the wide-open country of Lewis and Clark. Yes, you have lax gun laws but other than that it is incredibly litigious and authoritarian. You cannot smoke on a NY street and many public parks, cannot gamble online anywhere or irl in most states, have very strict TV censoring regarding sex/nudity/foul language, have the highest prison population in the 1st world, and the only one that sanctions capital punishment. Not exactly a population that is trusted to do the right thing with minium state control. If religion worked as an efficient check, then the USA would have less crime than secular nations, not more.
