I have always thought casual sex is a terrible idea, because it’s always less casual for one person than the other. But then I was also a little smug about only having been with one man and he cheated on me so, what do I know? Now I’ve been single for a while (3 years) and haven’t gotten involved with anyone and my life is finally good. But there is that one thing that’s missing and I really don’t have any desire to get into a relationship (because that was pure hell the last time) and casual sex seems more reasonable. But I have no good prospects for that either. Because I would definitely want to feel comfortable with someone. And if I’m Gonna be friends and have sex with someone that’s a relationship, as far as I’m concerned. and we’re back to not wanting to do all that.

I think it’s like everything else - there aren’t any more shark attacks but everyone reads about them on-line so it feels like it is super common. We are much more aware today of what behaviors are toxic and abusive, and have more ways to communicate about them, where people used to just keep it to themselves.
