As for the faith thing, I have been to church on several occasions, bowed my head and said to myself, "this is nonsense, I am here for....(insert event)". I think we decided this had to bloody work because we are both codgers and neither of us has the strength to do it again. I held off for ages, not sure if I dare. If he has faults then don't we all. He texts me to say he's worried about me driving in the snow. He was genuinely relieved when I got the all-clear when we thought I was unwell. He likes my children. He makes me laugh...he loves my cooking. He remembers my colleague and friend's names. No one in my entire 52 years has ever cared this much about me. Yeah he's untidy but so what.

Ok what I am proposing is this. 1. We'll buy a ranch somewhere reasonably isolated. I am a fair and magnaminous supreme leader, I have £30 to throw in the pot. Now I suggest a small contribution of all your worldly goods should be adequate. 2. We'll all work the land (well obviously not me) and sing songs of salvation. 3. We'll get the kids to work from...well I say about 8 years. I thinks thats enough for all that book learning. 4. Any profit will go into the community's bank account (obviously in my name). 6. Imagine this, Hitler grows to be a reasonably sucessful happy painter with a few liederhosen strewn babies and a jolly wife. Oh the while the Eugenisists in UK and US became increasingly more vocal and strident in their views. Bouyed by popular enthusiasm and belief. People like Winston Churchill, Susan B. Anthony amongst many others were great proponents of the Eugenics movement and even by the begining of WW2 were talking about enforced sterilisation of some groups in society. Elizabeth Cady Stanton, an abolitionist, was utterly opposed to black sufferage and in some parts of EU enforced sterilisation continued until the 1970s! Hitler was bound to happen. The mix was already in place, the (poorly gathered) science was there. I suggest had we (like John Lennon suggested) loved and cared for Hitler, someone else would come to the fore. The same as Gadaffi, Osama bin laden and yes even Trump. These people are just wired wrong, the trick is to not be around them when they go off!

I have to say as a nurse, I fundamentally disagree with euthansia. Medical science is improving all the time. What commonly killed people 50 years ago (like TB) is easily treated today. No one lives in a vacuum and social pressures affect us all. I remember caring for someone who said he wanted to die when he heard his daughter decline a night out due to her caring responsibilities for him. Had my Mum lived now (a mere 15 years since she died) she would have survived. I do not believe my life is more important than any other living creature, but it is for those who love me. As for relieving the suffering of the mentally ill, no...a permanent solution to a temporary problem. There again, its like medical termination...not my decision to make.
