Should transgender women be allowed to compete against biological women?
Amisja comments on Dec 6, 2018:
The likelihood is that male to female trans people probably have a disadvantage physically. Most develop osteoarthritis at younger ages, reduction in muscle mass actually causes a great deal of pain. It isn't just a chop and yer done. It is a lifelong commitment to gender affirmation that requires medication, lots of surgery and physical changes that are not just purely cosmetic.

What would an intelligently designed human actually look like?
Amisja comments on Dec 6, 2018:
That is a really good question. However, I suppose it would depend who intelligently designed it. I think the whole aging thing has to go. I don't say we should live forever, but the falling apart bit as you age is shite. Equally backs are a bad design. Why do we have to spend so much time being told to sit up straight, adopt an appropriate posture, design it so we can't slouch! Eyes (oft quoted by creationists) are rubbish, fail all too often and are far too sensitive to the environment. Talking about that, why did we have to loose our fur? I think I'd look lovely in a nice ginger mane to keep me warm. Did I mention aging? The menopause, they can sack that right off...it's wank and there is no possible biological benefit to messing with women's bodies like that...just cruel. Also why is it I (and virtually everyone I know) love everything bad for me, from cream cake to gin and tonic to staying in bed late. Why do we have cannaboid receptors and nicotine receptors? Pain can go, can't I just get a text, 'Jayne you need to move away from the PC now' or 'Jayne that diet coke will fill your tummy up with wind'!? I also think depression and anxiety are just crap, as are most nasty diseases. They need to go. Also do not design a creature with bits you have to remove, so no tonsils, no appendix, design them with piercings (or the choice), no excess teeth either. I could go on but I can say this, if there was an intelligent designer he should have his wage with held they made a crap job!

Is there a difference between Patriotism and Nationalism?
Amisja comments on Dec 6, 2018:
There is a difference in that patriotism seeks to celebrate one's nation's positive achievements, like for us here in the UK that would be Stonehenge and the NHS and thats kinda it really. Nationalism seeks to define one's nation and it's population as superior and therefore of more worth than the population of others. It is where the philosophies of a 'master race' and ultimately facism

Amisja comments on Dec 5, 2018:
Love or what we call that feeling is a purely biological response to ensure our survival. Firstly we have very vulnerable infants. Newborns would not survive without a caring adult to respond to their needs. This caring response releases endophins and excitatory neurotransmitters. The act of breast feeding release alsorts of positive feelings for the mother. Now as even weaned infants (where most mammals restrict contact with their young) are terribly squishy, so remain involved. These lovely warm positive emotions are delicious and people want to keep having them so they extend the emotional response to other living beings. Consequently we care for babies for as long as they need.

CAESAR'S MESSIAH: The Roman Conspiracy to Invent Jesus - OFFICIAL VERSION - YouTube
Amisja comments on Dec 5, 2018:
I watched this. Its not accurate. It seems like an easy explanation but it is just not what Romans did. They would never have a 'god' character put to death, especially in the way of the lowest of the low. Romans were very good at propaganda. Following the first failed Roman invasion of UK in 55BC. Ceaser said of the Brits that they were unnaturally wild and fierce. That they were extremely tall and wore woad on their faces. These were inaccurate descriptions. Ceaser wanted domestic Romans to envisage the Brits as unnaturally fierce and unbeatable. Romans were massively skilled in creating a belief system that they and their gods were superior. They would not have created a basically down at heels common young man who wasn't Roman, as their god

There are definitely some fairly universal laws that any dereliction from could be said to be rather dreadful, like killing people, raping, harming the vulnerable, children or defenseless animals. I think sin is the very human idea that they will get their comeupance in the next life. Reality is that many trully despicable creatures do very well out of their 'sin'.

I should explain. I initially outed this character to the scammer group. Later when I came in I read from the senate group how this character had posted images of children in a group posting pics of 'sexy women'. My concern is that as a university lecturer I certainly do not want to be associated with anything where that is seen as the norm. As a nurse, it is illegal for me to knowingly witness criminal or abusive behaviour and not report. I do not want to report the site to Ceop but it seriously worries me. I am not trying to be a drama queen but having worked with paedophiles, I know how they work. Posting 'innocent' pics and saying things like 'I love babies' is very telling.

Amisja comments on Dec 3, 2018:
Here is the thing, male penises are ugly. They look like baby aliens. Nothing you can do can make them pretty and in my 20 years+ working with women, I cannot remember anyone of them saying they like looking at willies. So why do men do this? Its like a boy chasing a girl round a playground with a dead worm (pun intended), it is meant to shock and by doing so cause discomfort. It is about their perceived male supremacy and strength. Consequently I would suggest sharing these pics is sexual assault.

What Causes Religious Belief? Are we hard-wired for religion and belief in deities? It would ...
Amisja comments on Dec 2, 2018:
Religious belief stems from a fear of death and the apparent fragility of life. In a time before we understood anything about the world, the death of otherwise young healthy people would have seemed to defy any sort of logic or explanation. Especially because we continue to 'sense' them. We have a memory that lasts a long time. Certainly other primates, even dogs and cats (oh and definitely dolphins) do pine for love ones...they feel the loss but they lack the imagination to make any sort of sense of it. Couple this with apparent 'miracle' recoveries, when all else seemed doomed and it isn't a massive leap for us to insert an idea of some supernatural control. We are hard wired to fill in gaps. People can read entire sentences without vowels with no issue. We see an almost completed circle and automatically complete it. I can imagine as a cognitive shortcut there is some excellent advantages to this. So if it looked and felt magic our brains would fill in the gaps.

Amisja comments on Dec 1, 2018:
In the UK and other parts of EU there travellers from basically two traveller traditions (There are more but it gets complicated) There are gypsies of Irish decent and Romany Gypsies. They do virtually the same thing. Kids are educated to 12 years, girls are bethroyed at 14 and marry as soon as they are legally permitted at 16. 5 or 6 babies by the time they are 20. Boys are allowed some 'wild oats' time but all must be virgins when they marry. The communities do not engage, are the focus of a lot of racism, because they are virtually all illiterate they do not contribute to society. Their mortality rate is much lower than the general population, they rarely attend doctors etc. They are virtually all EXTREMELY religious (RC) but follow a strange version of their faith that discourages education. There are other closed communities and in some ways they are interesting from anthropological point of view but they damaging to the members and the rest of society.
I just realized that sometimes I can be a little condescending (that means I talk down to people).

These are especially good because they often have credit card details attached. The lazy ones will hack your account and steal your money The crueler ones lead people into believing there is a real affection there, then manufacture and emergency and get you to send money. We have a group with lots of details. Look after yourself.
