I would agree, I am also surprised by India, which although it does have real problems, there is a growing women's movement and increasing number of educated women. In countries like Yemen and Syria this does not exist. In fact 1/4 of Yemen face starvation. US does not have endemic FGM like some of the African countries. I had also like to understand what 'dangerous' means?

@Beowulfsfriend Yep, I get that. About 1/3 of my students are from African countries and there are differences. We have students from Nigeria, Kenya (probably the most secular), Botswana, Ghana, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zimbabwe and Sierra Leone. I have learned a lot from them. One student from Sierra Leone spoke about watching her father being killed, her mother raped and her brothers having arms cut off so they could not fire guns. Their stories and history are Unique to their particular region. I am European but I feel very different when I go to France or Spain. To condemn an entire continent which has for centuries been raped and pillaged by...well the west...seems wholly unfair.Just do a quick search on Ted talks to find 100s of African academics who have a lot to tell us about that continent.

FGM is not an Islamic practice. It is practiced almost exclusively in some African countries, some of whom purport Christian values. It is a cultural practice outdating both Christianity and Islam and is intended to reduce female sexual pleasure which is in turn intended to increase fidelity. Not sure how.

They checked the mtrichondial DNA of the bones. I agree with everything everyone has said about the commonality of all those names but that isn't what is going on It is far more likely than a magic boy who died behind a big stone rock, escaped and flew to heaven!

You need to watch the documentary. There are lots of Jesus' and Marys but not with the same combination of people in this particular grave. One of the contributors is archaeologist shimon gibson who is very well respected.

I would probably vote green except for some of the up their own ass greenies I know. It becomes like a competition and it is expensive. I wish I could wear only pure handmade organic silk but I am poor. The British Green party also believes in population control which is massively dangerous.
