I would agree that the general population here is perhaps more intelligent than general, however I would still be concerned about more vulnerable members, the lonely, the vulnerable or older people. One older gentleman (70's) mentioned a young (20's) had started talking to him. When someone is lonely, the blindingly obvious to us, may not be so for others. I watched a documentary about how these gangs work. They are skilled at finding those they can easily manipulate. I would suggest that we need to protect all our members.

My 80 yo mother told me a horrible story this morning... I assume you're familiar with the "penny for the Guy" tradition? When my grandfather was in his 20s, he worked in a butcher's shop. The local children came to the shop with the Guy in the wheelbarrow. One of butcher's jokingly said "doesn't ...

I think folks would be more okay with this if the photos were limited to site admins.

Thats another option. Texting is another option, but again that could have a potential cost.

Wow, I am surprised by the hostility about this. I offered a reasonable idea, used by other sites to protect vulnerable members. Even someone doubting my integrity! Thats terrible. This is ostensibily a dating site. Dating attract scammers. I am NOT here for dates, I have a partner. Neither am I ...

@RavenCT Hi Raven, it wasn't directed at you. People who think I would lie about my hometown or thinks its alright to swear at a middle aged woman offering potential solutions.

@MrBeelzeebubbles sound lurvely. My school uniform is unchanged to this day. Its at least 100 years old. (As in the design). I have only taught in HE where students are generally pretty sorted (not all). Don't forget, up until recently you could leave school at 16 here. In US it was 18. I was 15 when I took my O levels (yep I'm that old). There were still tons of jobs where you could work from 16, marry at 16. Both my cousins joined the armed forces at 15. British teens tend to be more cynical and give up on childhood much sooner. I did do As after school but lots of my friends didn't.

The research I did came from online games originally. This is about 10 years ago and my sons were playing WoW. They told me how you could use real money to 'buy' online money. I was shocked as this went against everything I taught them about being good sportspersons. It was essentially cheating. ...

Amisja replies on Nov 7, 2018:
These scammers buy stock photos of individuals. Google it...they are unbelievably easy to obtain. We delivered a session for students using specialist software and two students had their images illegally captured by scammers and produced as 'profiles' for them. They work in teams...sending out millions of scams. Everything from 'the Nigerian prince' to 'your Apple ID has been compromised' but cruelest of all are the love scams. This is done on an industrial level, it earns these teams $millions. However, by far the biggest danger comes from Russian hackers because money is not their focus, they want power and knowledge.
