Welcome Keith_J! What is your role in the mental health community, if you don't mind sharing?
Amisja comments on May 9, 2018:
Hello and thank you for adding me to this group. My name is Jayne and I am a registered Mental health nurse and currently a university lecturer for pre-reg student nurses, particularly those in mental health. I have spent the majority of my working life working in female acute care. So women in extreme states of crisis, deterioration of a psychotic illness or severe clinical depression. I am especially interested in self harm, wound care and diabetes and how this affects people with MH problems.
Why the goverment of india cannot give a solution of rampant rape case in their country?
Amisja comments on May 9, 2018:
Women and girls are chattel in much of the world. Property to be traded, used and abused as any man desires. Rape, in ancient times was recognised as any offence against the girl's father or older male relative. These notions continue to this day. The effects on the girl were and are inconsequential. Women were and are stoned to death for allowing themselves to be raped. Women in the west fought long and hard for the freedom to be people, to be treated equally, to live and work without the fear of sexual assault or rape. The amazing sisters in India are starting to wake up to the injustices there. Saying that we must never see this as an 'Indian' problem. Every 20 minutes a woman in USA, UK or EU is sexually assaulted and despite all our hard work, are still treated unfairly by courts and other authorities. Just last year a police poster in UK suggested that rape was basically caused by drunken females! We MUST never let it slide. We must remain vigilant. Every university student in USA who gets away with rape because he is a good sportsperson, every judge who suggests wearing short skirts causes rape, every university suggesting women who are 'half naked' (Story yesterday from Zambia) are distracting males...every single offence against women and girls needs to be condemned. Even the guy on here complaining about young women swearing. We have an absolute right to live free of fear. The metoo campaign recognised how widespread the problem is. It is not only the problem of young pretty women either, I am 51 years old and got sent the most vile message on FB messenger from this guy about what he would do to me, following a very gentle rejection on my part. Until a woman can say that the only thing she fears walking home in the dark is tripping up on her Ruby Shoes then we continue to have work to do. Much love xx
Is anyone else here watching the meltdown of free speech in the UK?

What do you think Jesus's networth would have been? he looked pretty fucking broke on that cross.
Amisja comments on May 9, 2018:
Jesus and his mates lived off the largess of a group of women. It is stated clearly. Mary Magdelene was one of them. It is likely she was wealthy as were the family of Lazurus. His sisters, Martha and Mary we also Jesus' benefactors. He basically lived off women.

Telling children Santa Claus is real? Are you against it or for it?
Amisja comments on May 8, 2018:
I never told them either way. Its father christmas for us and he existed until then kinda worked it out for themselves, which was very young. My Mum said I never believed it and my kids were all rather cynical too. I was a bit cross when my oldest son told my youngest son's mate when they were about 10. His answer was 'ffs mum he's 10 he can go to war in a few years' (Isaac was 12 at the time). My children are unusually bright and cynical. I do not think it creates a trust issue if you are all in on the fantasy.
Why do you think some people have such an aversion to homosexualtiy, trans etc.
Amisja comments on May 8, 2018:
I am clearly missing the gene, seeing people happy and in love seems to me far more preferable than other possible outcome. As adults we learn to accept that everyone is different...everyone. There are billion ways to be normal. So be happy when you see adults in love in whatever form it comes in.
You have screwed up...somehow you find yourself on death row...
Amisja comments on May 8, 2018:
Starter would be garlic mushrooms in bread crumbs but not too hot to scald yer tongue. Main would be cheese potatoes and beans...properly with melted cheese and tomato slice on top. Dessert would be anything lemony and creamy. Drink would be nordes gin and elderflower tonic. Thing is I am English and we don't have death row and I am also a pacifist so probably not gonna happen.
Intelligent life out there..or are we alone?
Amisja comments on May 8, 2018:
I think chances are there is more life somewhere, its seems inconceiveable that we are alone. Saying that who knows whether its intelligent or not. We define intelligence by a set of rules (a stick of broccili has 10 IQ points apparently) they may have a completely different set of rules.

Did Jesus exist?
Amisja comments on May 7, 2018:
Jesus probably existed. He was not the son of god, he was not magic and never claimed to be. He saw what was happening around him, oppression and widescale corruption by the Jewish authorities and spoke up. People have been doing it forever. There is some bits of evidence..Joesphus Flavius for example mentions Jesus a couple of times. The thing iswhy would there be any more evidence than that? The Romans kept meticulous records of things that were important to them and he wasn't. The story of Pilot sounds so likely. Romans crucified dessenters on an industrial scale, why would they care about him? The thing that Jesus did that was different is he spoke out against the Jewish collaboration and corruption. This is what ended it for him. There were loads of rabble rousers at the time, just most toted the party line of Romans are wicked, Jews are oppressed. Jesus saw through that. I get that. I get how he would piss off the authorities. If you read the gospels in the original firm (via the amazing Mr. Ephraim) they actually aren't that complimentary. In fact Jesus comes across as a bit of a git. It surprises me that anyone would doubt his existence because we know there are people have always spoken out against what they see as wrong. Now if that person is especially charismatic (think Che Guevara), or present as a way that makes us question how we live (think of Ghandi and his vows of chastity and poverty) or have really really strong views about a subject (think the young student who spoke out against gun violence...sorry forgot her name) then you have a recipe for a person others will listen to and hang on his every word.Jesus had all of this. He was young, and lived separately and differently than others and had some really radical things to say. Imagine how attractive that would be to oppressed people? He probably seemed really exotic and fascinating to the people in that time. The big thing for me is why would he be made up? I mean its not a very godly story anyway. (He fares better in Islam). Bloke turns up, rocks the boat, lives like some weird hippy with his mates and then dies. No finery, no golden throne or anything people expected of a god. He said some lovely words and some people thought that he cured their ills.(Probably not). Not god or a son, not magic, a little bit supercilious and up himself but human and real.
Court tomorrow and MRI wednesday.

I don't like the wording of your poll, however having looked at the academic evidence, it is clear to me that there was once a political agitator, charismatic orator and all-round reasonable guy called Jesus. Not a magic baby, son or god or super hippy but he definitely existed.

Amisja comments on May 7, 2018:
'I am so sorry for your loss', 'I am here for you' (and mean it) or 'You are in my constant thoughts'. Its the living who need the supports and prayers are going to do exactly zero to help. Throwing a load of washing in for them, making them a cup of tea or hoovering the carpet helps more.

How would Christians feel if when they get to heaven. almighty God is a Muslim?
Amisja comments on May 6, 2018:
That is so beyond ridiculous where to even start...oh go on then.. 1. There is no god 2. Islam and Christianity are manmade 3. Is eating fats good for you?
Amisja comments on May 4, 2018:
Evidence appears to suggest it is where the body stores fat that is the key. Generally speaking someone with a larger tummy should avoid carbs, larger buttocks and thighs avoid fat. However you cannot go wrong if you eat a balanced diet, exercise for 150 mins a week and drink plenty of water.

Amisja comments on May 4, 2018:
From a British point of view, there is the idea that those of us on the left are puritanical by nature and not amused. In fact, surprisingly religiousity here is traditionally more aligned to the political left. Where the right are more likely to be hardnosed money grabbers. I do find myself tut tutting at casual racism, sexism or homophobia like that is even acceptable. I can laugh though

Amisja comments on May 2, 2018:
FGM is not as much of a problem in those countries as in sub-Saharan Africa and it is definitely a cultural issue rather than a religious one. More recently it has been seen in Syria as a affectation by D'eash. This has been widely condemned by most Islamic leaders. http://gh.bmj.com/content/2/4/e000467 Forced marriage is more common in majority muslim countries but also in other closed sects like the Frumm Jewish communities, Jo Wits and Brethern communities. Forced marriages also affects males and I have personally cared for many male victims of this practice. Rape is ubiquitous and needs to end as do acid attacks, they are cruel attempts to assert power. Women are not as safe as men, anywhere. This is a challenge that we need to address. We simply cannot sit on our laurels because we live in the west.

Oh love your post was very poignant and brave. For much of your life you have had this internal support mechanism who you held in esteem as your creator and safety mechanism. I am arrogant enough to think I probably have all the right answers. You are already proving you are courageous, believe in your inner voice. Best wishes xxx

The Better God Question
Amisja comments on Apr 29, 2018:
We needed a god when we didn't understand the complexities and randomness of nature. Then, when societies developed to the point were they could release a few people from constant toil, we allowed them to study the nature of this entity. These individuals created this capricious god in order to fit their needs. Things changed in the NT and again in the Q'oran but god would still come and smite you if you didn't do what the priest chaps told you. (Which meant usually feed them and let them wear gold and give them a tithe of your money...yeah sounds legit). This god was never benevolent and kind. It was never about love or goodness it was about POWER and CONTROL. In fact there is tons of evidence that Neanderthals and Denisovans were perfectly kind to each other without any evidence of supernatural intervention. One cannot say god must exist because there has always been one. Humans like their biological cousins are hardwired to care for each other. Thats how we manage to rear such demanding, squishy infants. God is irrelevant
Absolutely Amazing!!
