@NotConvinced What are you talking about? Nowhere in that graph does it discuss changes to legislation or anything else for that matter. These are purely statistical data. As Americans you can decide what you will as regards whether the continued loss of children's lives is an acceptable sacrifice for gun ownership. Now acid attacks. This very recent crime of acid attacks appears to been originally brought to UK from African and Asian countries. There have been 800 in the last year, mostly in London. It is not acceptable but a diminishingly low number. The issue here is MASS killings of young people. You would need a lot of acid to kill people on mass. This is a decision for the American people but as a Brit with an American ex and three American children, I am glad we are in UK.

@KenG Statistics from where exactly? I know the stats from my country. Racism is not about saying certain races do not commit crimes. That is not accurate. The left (in UK at least) believe broadly in communal ownership (communal rather than state) of essential services and equality for all. All communities (lets use that word because race is a misnomer) commit crime and the statistics are clear that certain communities lead certain crimes. Again that is not what we are talking about. Disvaluing contributions, disallowing certain activities (hmm voting for example), holding negative bias about a particular group is racism. The left is clearly utterly opposed to this.

I won't watch it because as far as I'm concerned all royals should piss off back to medieval times where they belong. However, I do kind of like Meghan and I hope she has a lovely day, and I'll be watching British right-wingers to see if their heads explode in sheer anger when a mixed-race feminist ...
Amisja replies on May 15, 2018:
@KenG Erm where did that even come from? The basic tennet of the left wing political base is equality for all.

Didn't we (Americans) fight two wars not to have to care about the British monarchy?

I won't either. I do have great respect for this new crop of Royals though. Both of Dianna's sons are men of moral fiber and bravely went to war. Both show great love for Britain and the people. Their father seems decent also. Queen Elizebeth was a driver during the war and showed her mettle. That ...

Misogyny and Agnostic.com
atheist comments on May 14, 2018:
So am I a misogynist if I criticize a person who is female? Is being a sexist the same thing? Would I have to quit making jokes about my marriages? Is there some kind of standard or has this issue become ultra sensitive? ?
Amisja replies on May 15, 2018:
@atheist When you make a comment suggesting a person acts or displays certain characteristics because they are female, or you lump all females together is sexist. So a 'dumb blonde' joke is sexist. Saying you like redheads is sexist. Making a comment that is hateful, or negative towards women is misogynistic. So 'the only good place for a woman is bent over the kitchen sink'...is that (had that said to me.) It is not overly sensitive to be expected to be treated with respect, whether we are men women or a bloody kangaroo! The backlash is about hearing every bloody day for your entire life. Men believing absolutely they have the right to speak to women anyway they like. I am a university lecturer, I am well qualified and 51 years old and despite that I still get men making comments about my breasts or question if I am 'feisty' because of my redhair. Just stop it ok.

@citronella I'm a socialist. I believe in a merit society, everyone deserves a basic standard of living. Tax the super rich and distribute wealth fairly. Make the focus of society personal achievement and growth...not wealth

I would start with getting very acquainted with evolutionary facts. Throw in a base knowledge of anthropology. Fight fiction with facts. Even if you don't change anyone's mind, you will have introduced a touch of reality into their fallacy filled minds.

If it makes you feel any better, people have no interest in me for a variety of reasons, even though I do have a degree or two. When my life bottomed out, I realized the slate was wiped clean. Whatever direction I took was the right direction. So I built it back up, grieving as I went, and found an authentic me. This is one of the ways we are pretty incredible as humans.
