A regular on the lunch menu!!!! I meant to add throughout my primary/elementary school days. In those days, made with suet, steamed and served with custard. Warm stodgy memories, though other than through mild curiosity I doubt I would touch it with a bargepole now. I am glad that such a simple culinary delight can engender so much humour. :-)

In the town I grew up in ( 25 miles out of St Pancras), it was pretty much the town sport. Weekend evenings after the pubs closed there was always a crowd. The pool was on the edge of the park with and easily negotiated perimeter.
