The cast iron pans I inherited from my grandmother have been used for planters to start seedss at times. The best way to clean one is put it in a coal fire, until red hot (hours!) they come out brownish exactly like new, once they cool down. A very hot campfire for several hours will work, or you can wire-brush them. Then reseason. I just wash mine in the sink like any other pan. This mythology of special care is silly, you couldn't hurt them even if you ran them over with a car!

I have had 3 dogs have 4 knee replacements. It would be helpful if you stated which type they had. The older type graft of new cartilage onto the knee makes the dog retire to basically a couch potato forever. The TLPO returned all of my dogs to highest-level competition in Hunt Test & Field Trials, plus A Lot of hunting & training....it costs of course 3-4 times what a graft costs. If you had the graft, this what you will deal with forever, it is pretty fragile. If you had the TLPO, your rehab is at this point not IMO rigorous enough. Will the dog retrieve? With just a few short bursts, start on sand, progress to sandy uphills, building up gradually, it should not take more than a few weeks at this point. Sand/ loose dirt will make a Huge difference! And supplement with human Glucosamine/Chondriton (our surgeon's recommendation) PM me!

STOP! Adjust the hinges! Usually a screw or 2 has come loose, (usually the hole has gotten too big) or you may need to lightly shim behind one or more hinges....shaving the door is a very, very, last resort! To fix a loosened screw hole, insert toothpicks covered in white glue, using a hammer to mush the last one in. Let dry overnight, razor-knife off the sticking-out part, reinsert screw(s). To shim behind the hinge, loosen all the screws, take out most of them, start with very thin cardboard, build up as needed, the screws will go right through it. Use something under the opening edge of the door to keep it from sagging while you do this...a book, maybe? Trial & error & patience, please!
