I sang in the church choir as a child. Loved doing "The Messiah" with the adult choir at holiday time, such powerful harmony! My favorite hymn was an obscure one starting, "Once to every man and nation, comes a moment to decide......" which spoke to me very deeply then & now. Not even melodic! Others found it disturbing

I offer concrete ideas if possible: rides, cooking, child/ dog sitting, whatever. I feel when a person is stressed they may easily overlook the obvious things that might help. But I if they ask for prayers, 1. Someone else will no doubt step right up to do that useless thing, 2. I will gently say I do not have much faith in that...how about a nice casserole?

I am President of a 100-member social club for over-55's.. I make sure all the Members hear this at least once, they are 80% women & some like to be "active". I think the word gets out as they tell their friends, etc. One of the Huge problems: At this age any initial symptoms could be So easily misdiagnosed, as even many physicians seem to igore this aspect of an older person's life, sadly

Daily moments of pure joy: i look around at the life (actually a simple one) i have now, remember how awful most of it was, and am flooded with gratitude & happiness. To the point that sometimes i skip, or burst into song (my dogs are very forebearing, lol!). Since i do not believe i got here by any means other than my perserverance, & some dumb luck, my joy is doubled, or perhaps tripled! My one regret is, none of this simple wonderfulness started until i was 64...but, better late than never. I will just live another 30 or more years........ And may all of you do likewise!

I hate that you feel this way! Most definitely learn to live in, and Savor, the moment where you are! The safety & warmth of your bed, for example. You cannot do one damn thing about the Universe by worrying! The cliche about taking time to watch a lovely sunset has resonance for a reason. Personal story: in the midst of an unwanted and Ugly divorce, when I could move only between rage & despair, I came out of Wal-Mart and the sky was Incredible....that magical light blue with clouds looking exactly like gigantic peach/gold/pink ostrich feathers. I said loudly to the entire parking lot, "Look up"....a collective gasp ensued! A wonderful magic moment of connection to beauty & to others in the midst of horribleness! That was 8 years ago, still a wonderful memory. And he pain of that time has been replaced by joy! IMO it is always what You choose to focus upon!

Huge guy in floor-length heavy overcoat, boots, scarf, mittens came to my door carrying a tiny little girl, maybe 4, wearing nothing but a pink party dress & dress shoes with ankle socks. I told him if he didn't get that child into proper outdoor clothing in the next 3 minutes I was calling the police. Apparently Gawd wants children to get frostbite so my soul will be saved?

I am 4th-term President of an over-55 singles social group, the Club has been around over 40 years and currently has just over 100 Members, plus another 400 followers online. I am 69, many of the Members are a huge inspiration to me, they are dancing, dining, traveling, some 20+ years older than me! You can have friends & fun at any age, just open your eyes!

I actually died during a serious illness...it was lovely & peaceful and there was a sort of enjoyable expectation of "more" coming soon. Then they brought me back to a body full of pain and the possibility of life-long disability both mental & physical. I was 38 at the time. Longed for death for many years, so much nicer! Be not afraid!
