I’m right there with you brother… I’m in Florida and the sole caregiver for my mom with dementia… My sister is in New York, She helps by handling some of the bills online but for the most part she just feels bad that she can’t be here... i do it all but I’m glad I can. My mom is a retired opera singer who still has one piano student… I’m not sure how much longer that will last. I’m also a single dad and I have my kids three days a week, I work full time plus teach guitar and make every effort to have a social life. Yes, moms can make us crazier:) My sister says I’ve secured my place in heaven… But I take that with a grain of salt because she works in a Catholic Church, oy.

I don’t know about something from nothing but you can have more from les as in synergy... If the less is little enough it might be close to nothing but if it’s nothing twice nothing is still nothing, I think you must have something to have synergy? Perhaps our somthing was a leak from another universe, as in the bubbles theory of the multiverse, if there’s many universes was there a first universe and what would that be? I think it would be somthing “nothing” doesn’t exist thus you always have the possibility of synergy, or somthing more from very little. I need a beer!

ArdentAtheist comments on May 29, 2018:
We owned our home so lived together separated for the 3 momths it took to sell it, with 3 kids this was not easy... I went up to a friends on the weekends and we recorded our music, a great distraction. If you are renting it’s tougher, do you both work? You will likely need a simpler lifestyle, just rent a room or get a roommate. You will recover, live simple, cook at home. If it’s possible to live below your means save your money. I would not get married again, marriage is just a bad deal for men. I’m still paying for it... that said, I’ve had lots of good things happen in my life that would not have been possible if I was still married. Don’t let stress get the better of you, you will find a way to survive and prosper if you stay present... don’t expend all your energy on worrying about past or future, what can you do today, do you have food today, do you have a roof today. You are walking where many have gone before you, the dust will settle and you will learn to love your new life. If both people in a relationship aren’t happy nobody is happy... the challenges may seem an impossible task, breathe and do one thing today to make a new life... you do not need to know what it will look like until you get there... it’s all about this moment.

ArdentAtheist comments on May 28, 2018:
Everyone asks questions and to a large degree it will depend on who is there to answer them. In my case I had conflicting answers from different people and I chose reality. I did the religious rituals but never took it as meaning it was real, it was the culture and I knew that all peoples had different cultures. I’ve always been religios teflon. It has never been more to me than a cultural leftover, architecture, art and a silly thing to believe. Perhaps I had just the right amount of Rock n’ Roll:) ... I was also sent to church by parents that didn’t go, do as I say not as I do didn’t make me religious.

Do you believe in life after death of any kind?
ArdentAtheist comments on May 27, 2018:
Belief could be a strong word for it as it is temperd with a scale tipping amount of doubt. I have and do study some Buddhist philosophy and technics and it feels plausible when I’m in meditation. I think of it as a energy net that we come from and return to, I can invision this being part of the natural world not requiring an intelligence or creator, this can lead to a feeling as if reincarnation is plausible. It’s what I would like to believe but without better evidence than simply how I feel, I can’t trust it as an actual reality.

I find here people with good ideas who I can learn from and a place for what I believe to be heard by a somewhat more receptive group. I like sharing what I’ve learned and socializing with people grounded in reality. Many of the posts I have made here would not have been well received on FB... Although Twitter does allow me a good outlet and outreach it is somewhat less personal so I do both that and this. ArdentAtheist comments on May 27, 2018:
It’s a good question. I’ve not asked in awhile. This is built into the teachings of meditation based on buddhist practice . I studied this and can see I’ve let my story filter back in, as if it was real. As atheists we accept reality. Our story has nothing to do with this moment. Don’t let the shackles of the past restrain you. I’m going to revisit this aspect of letting go in today’s meditation. This is not some silly meme and it’s defiantly worth the effort. It’s not somthing to pursue, it’s simply somthing to “let go”.

ArdentAtheist comments on May 27, 2018:
If someone were to constantly post things I found offensive I would block them, not an angry blocking but rather just as a way to adjust my settings so I won’t see their posts. That is if I were offended. The way I actually role is if I don’t like something I don’t click like and move along... I always vote for free speech :-)
>How will you vote?
ArdentAtheist comments on May 27, 2018:
I’ll vote straight Democratic ticket. On some levels I do like the Libertarian party but when push comes to shove I’ve never been able to vote for any of them as they’ve either been idiots or I simply did not want to cast my vote to the wind. I like the idea of 3rd party but in reality I want my vote to have an impact for what I want and not simply against what I don’t. I voted for Obama, I voted for Hillary and I sent some of my hard-earned money to Bernie. Voting 3rd party is just going to swing the vote for a mainstream candidate so far better to vote for the mainstream candidate so if nothing else you know exactly who and what you are voting for. Help someone real get in office and kick every republican out at every opportunity. I’ve kind of decided that being a libertarian is kind of like being a Catholic, it’s putting your heart and mind into something that doesn’t exist.
Pope Francis
ArdentAtheist comments on May 26, 2018:
Concidering the perspective of the Pope that’s better than telling the kid his dads going to hell... it’s not like we would expect him to denounce religion. What the kid needs is an adult in his life with a grasp on reality.

ArdentAtheist comments on May 25, 2018:
A quote that I read in a meme somewhere… “If you’re lonely you’re in bad company“. Of course there’s more to it than that but your post brought to mind that meme. There is however some truth to it though. if I’m not in a great mood getting together with friends can lift me out of it but if I am in a great mood I can toil in solitude for hours and wonder where the time went.

Kindness kindness kindness ... I strive for this daily, I fail at it on occasion and I succeed at it often. If I were here to date I would be no different than you see me now. I think you give good food for thought, we should all pause and reflect on how we are being and how we can be better.
