The roots are solid wood covered with carpet. The trunk is made from wooden plates spaced about every foot or so with a central wooden support. It was then wrapped with chicken wire and the carpet attached to that. This comes apart in four pieces. The leaves are attached to the trunk with metal dowels. It's about 7' tall, so I had to build it in sections so it could be moved. The leaves were constructed with a central wooden support with ribs radiating out, then covered in chicken wire and carpet.

@Drsmash253 This is an article I read this morning: Wise Silence: Reflex vs. Instinct; http://demafizik.blogspot.com/2010/03/reflex-vs-instinct.html This article broke it down like this: "The uniqueness of the instinct is contained in the large complexity of the performed actions. While reflex, typically, causes activity of one organ; instinct, typically, causes a large number of cooperating activities of various organs. In other words, it's fair to say that reflex represents a reaction of one organ while instinct represents a reaction (behavior) of the whole organism." I'm still researching. Do you have any sources you think are pertinent to this topic?
Human Instinct: Is there such a thing? If so, what is it?
Drsmash253 comments on Jul 14, 2018:
I actually did a little bit of studying on this human beings don't have instincts they have drives an instinct not only tells you to do something but it tells you how to do it I.E. the way that birds not only know to migrate but where to migrate to that is an instinct Drive simply tell you need to ...

Since you have studied this, perhaps you can clarify a couple of terms. This is something I am curious about and have found several 'overlapping' definitions. The words 'instinct' and 'reflex' are often used together, interchangeably. How do you define these two words? To me, they are not the same, but it is confusing the way they can be used.

Good read! I hadn't heard about the 'limits' before. Politicians want to make things so difficult.

Other animals have instincts. Why wouldn't humans?
AstralSmoke replies on Jul 13, 2018:
From what I've read (I'm far from being a scientist) is the higher the animal is in classification, the fewer instincts they display.

We instinctively look in the direction of a sudden sound.
AstralSmoke replies on Jul 13, 2018:
Is it instinctual? Can you 'learn' not to look in the direction of a sudden sound?

Fear upon seeing a snake is supposed to be instinctual. Babies have an instinct to suckle the mother's breast. Kids have an instinct to grasp with their hands.
AstralSmoke replies on Jul 13, 2018:
I've thought about the snake scenario. My kids, when younger, weren't afraid of snakes at all. They wanted to catch them and play with them. It has been a cautionary learning curve for them. Suckling and grabbing I agree with.

Coffeo comments on Jul 13, 2018:
Yes, I think it's pretty well established that there is.
AstralSmoke replies on Jul 13, 2018:
@Coffeo I'm not convinced the ones you listed are instinctual, except yawning. The other four are learned behaviors, are they not?

JustKip comments on Jul 13, 2018:
Of course it is. A substantial portion of behavior comes from genetic predisposition

Instinct: The ability to behave in a particular way that has not been learned. And some definitions add that it is species-specific, which means that all members of a species would exhibit the same trait.

I don't want to engage in your argumentative dialogue. But I do have a 'valid' point to make. Does the teacher not have a responsibility to the students to engage and encourage the? With a good teacher, there is no reason why most if not all the students would not receive an 'A'.
AstralSmoke replies on Jul 13, 2018:
@Captain_Feelgood You're very argumentative, which is why this is my last comment to your post. This is from Wikipedia, which I know is not a good reference site, but it's a good place to begin. In psychology The term "instinct" in psychology was first used in the 1870s by Wilhelm Wundt. By the close of the 19th century, most repeated behavior was considered instinctual. In a survey of the literature at that time, one researcher chronicled 4,000 human "instincts," having applied this label to any behavior that was repetitive.[citation needed] As research became more rigorous and terms better defined, instinct as an explanation for human behavior became less common. In a conference in 1960, chaired by Frank Beach, a pioneer in comparative psychology, and attended by luminaries in the field, the term was restricted in its application.[citation needed] During the 1960s and 1970s, textbooks still contained some discussion of instincts in reference to human behavior. By the year 2000, a survey of the 12 best selling textbooks in Introductory Psychology revealed only one reference to instincts, and that was in regard to Sigmund Freud's referral to the "id" instincts.[citation needed]. In this sense, instincts appeared to have become regarded as increasingly superfluous in trying to understand human psychological behavior. Psychologist Abraham Maslow argued that humans no longer have instincts because we have the ability to override them in certain situations. He felt that what is called instinct is often imprecisely defined, and really amounts to strong drives. For Maslow, an instinct is something which cannot be overridden, and therefore while the term may have applied to humans in the past, it no longer does.[3] The book Instinct (1961) established a number of criteria which distinguish instinctual from other kinds of behavior. To be considered instinctual, a behavior must: a) be automatic, b) be irresistible, c) occur at some point in development, d) be triggered by some event in the environment, e) occur in every member of the species, f) be unmodifiable, and g) govern behavior for which the organism needs no training (although the organism may profit from experience and to that degree the behavior is modifiable).[4]

@Captain_Feelgood That wasn't my point. There wasn't an active teacher in your video. Since humans are born with little to no instincts, we must learn everything. We need to be taught throughout our lives that other people are important, not just us. When we 'learn' that instead of 'me', which is the method now, to look out for the common good, then we will be able to be a more 'just' country. The US is considered a democracy, although it isn't really. We need to make it more democratic, not less.

So - Muncie Indiana is considered the center of the lower 48, if we're centralizing it here in the states. Who, in Muncie, would be willing to plan this? And if we do this internationally, we need to consider going to some other country. This sounds like fun!
