To you, what is the difference between being lonely and being alone. No platitudes, please.
AstralSmoke comments on Nov 25, 2017:
I love being alone, no one disturbing me while I do my thing. I don't like being lonely, no one there to share and be shared.

Personally, I find that when people become hostile is when I've hit a magical chord (Cohen: and it pleased the Lord). In my view, this is good as long as fists aren't flying. You know where to drill (metaphorically speaking).

The Halo Effect: Do you have a bias towards beautiful people?
AstralSmoke comments on Nov 24, 2017:
I personally don't follow the halo. I have quite the opposite occur for me. If they are a beautiful person physically, they have twice the work as normal people do to prove they have beauty inside as well. And yes, I've seen the effect. Mostly guys concerning beautiful women.

Does learning about nature, plants and animals and their lives, seem spiritual to you?
AstralSmoke comments on Nov 22, 2017:
Spiritual in the sense that every living thing gives off energy. If you ponder the interconnectedness of everything, how all movements affect something else and all of these energies are in constant flux. Spiritual would be a good way to describe it if I lived 'back in the days'.

I'm already alive and would like to live as long as I could. I already have children. Would I kill them so I could live longer? No. I believe that one day there will be a world government. A world government would be able to govern the number of our offspring and, if we survive our extinction instinct, the world population would be controlled at an 'optimum' level. They will have staffed actuarians, mathematician, a ton of social science people etc, to help know when and where the child mandates should be altered. And of course the world government is fair, humane, healthy, pollution free, encouraging, open, sustainable, ... The final question really has nothing to do with me. It is for the generations that haven't yet been born.

Would you date you?
AstralSmoke comments on Nov 19, 2017:
No, I'm getting older, gravity is having its effect, and I've never particularly liked the way I look. Characteristically, I like myself. I'm artistic, accept criticism, physically active, don't have many scruples, think logically (most of the time), and love dark chocolate. Maybe a blind person would be a good match. They see with their hands in a similar way that I do. This is one of those questions that gets stuck in my head. So of course I must amend my reply. I would be crazy to meet me in a female suit. We'd explore each other's bodies, we'd shower together (to conserve water, ha), she'd know exactly when to leave me alone and when to 'bother' me, she'd understand my moods and emotions, she'd show empathy. I don't think it'd last very long.

As an atheist, I think Homosexuality should not come into mainstream. What's your take ?
AstralSmoke comments on Nov 19, 2017:
In my non-scientific reply: There are many forms of animals, not just humans, that demonstrate homosexual behavior. I believe it's around 10% of humans. It's 'abnormal' because only a small percentage have this trait, but if we start selecting who we accept or don't accept due to whatever trait, how does that make us better animals?
Have you ever regretted the time you have wasted?
AstralSmoke comments on Nov 19, 2017:
I believe it's the norm, but that begs the question of what is time wasted? Often times I ask myself this question. Is down time wasted? Is relaxing and conversing/relating to people wasted? I don't know that it's a productive use of your time to think about it. It's water under the bridge so to say. Try to be more productive in the present if you feel like you have wasted so much time in the past.

AstralSmoke comments on Nov 19, 2017:
Soul to me means the 'essence' of me. What energies I give off; everything that is personal to me; that which makes up me. Do I believe it exists without me? No. When I die, where does it go? No scientific evidence for the way I see it, but once my brain stops functioning so does my soul.

AstralSmoke comments on Nov 18, 2017:
I'd have to go with the brain idea. The human brain is what has developed these weapons we use. My first 'weapon' that I made was a slingshot or perhaps a bow and arrow. Never 'killed' anyone or anything with them though. My brain wasn't functioning like that. I was simply an Indian defending my way of life against the European invaders.

That's gotta be tough. I avoid talking religion to my mom, but that's me. It sounds like your father is afraid of 'what's after'. Perhaps you can change the story in favor of what he is expecting or wants to expect. It sounds like he might be becoming more stubborn with age as well. If you need/want to talk to him, talk about him. Most people like to talk about themselves. Talk about the similarities instead of the differences. My mom just turned 88 and one thing she is willing to do and I think she appreciates it too, is video her talking about practically anything in her past. Often times I wish I had a camera running. I'm assuming you like to spend time with your dad, you just don't want to talk about religion. Sometimes props help.

Should employers be allowed to give pre-employment tests?
AstralSmoke comments on Nov 15, 2017:
It's an employer. It's their company and they have the duty to take as good care of it as possible. If a potential employee really wants to work for that company, they will take any tests the company decides to administer. And no, it's probably not fair. It depends on the employer's mindset as far as how recognizable humans are. Small businesses (1-99 employees) are as responsible as larger companies (>500 employees) for producing close to 80% of jobs. Medium size companies (100-499 employees) are responsible for the other 20%. Just a quick reminder of who creates jobs in the US. https://www.stlouisfed.org/Publications/Regional-Economist/April-2011/Are-Small-Businesses-the-Biggest-Producers-of-Jobs
Are you a skeptic or a cynic?
AstralSmoke comments on Nov 15, 2017:
I consider myself to be skeptical most of the time, but cynical sometimes. To be skeptical I need to see valid evidence before believing a claim. When I'm cynical, I'm assuming I already know the facts and I have already made my decision. I'm closed off from other possibilities. I hate it when I find myself doing that, but it happens every so often.
Do you have qualms about words with religious context?
AstralSmoke comments on Nov 15, 2017:
I don't have any qualms about using words that religions have borrowed and contaminated. It is our duty to reclaim these words. In order to do that, we have to use them. Science uses mystical words to define things (weather science and lightning pop into thought), so why shouldn't we?

Are you a mystique? I'm pretty ignorant of the Kabbalah, but I'm willing to learn. Wanting to see your perspective, so be patient. While it is heavily used by some denominations, it is not a religious denomination in itself. It forms the foundations of mystical religious interpretation. Kabbalah seeks to define the nature of the universe and the human being, the nature and purpose of existence, and various other ontological questions. It also presents methods to aid understanding of the concepts and thereby attain spiritual realization. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kabbalah You're a profest atheist. Does a good relationship require 100% honesty?
AstralSmoke comments on Nov 13, 2017:
Honesty shouldn't be confused with privacy. I believe it is necessary to try and be as honest as possible. With an open communication, honesty should be expected. Privacy is completely different. Your thoughts are your thoughts. You can explain them as best you can, but the other person will never get the whole truth. Honesty is an action and truth is a concept.

Acid was ok, it was visual color streaks and blurs mostly. Mushrooms tasted nasty and had the same effects as acid, but they're organic. I'd definitely do them again. I've never done DMT. I didn't need anything affecting my visuals, so I didn't do that much. Speed was more of the drug of choice for me at the time.
