Is there anything worse than religion's impact on humanity ever?

BD66 comments on Apr 28, 2021:
Religion is the perfect example of genetic algorithms at work in marketing. The product they are selling are a bunch of ridiculous 2000 to 5000 year old Jewish fairy tales. They have convinced people to waste their time and their money on that nonsense. They have complete freedom for how to peddle that nonsense to the public, so the religions that survive are those that have been most successful at selling the nonsense to the portion of the population they can exploit.

That's one hell of a clever question.
Based on another post I saw earlier! 🙄
BD66 comments on Apr 27, 2021:
This post is troubling for a number of reasons: Mammal reproduction is a pretty simple process. I grew up on a farm, and at the age of 7, after watching cattle reproduce, dogs reproduce, and getting a look at the magazines hidden under my dad's mattress, I had a pretty good idea how it all worked. Even for those who did not grow up on a farm, someone of average intelligence who has completed a high school sex education course knows all the important steps and processes involved in human reproduction. Most of the controversial questions are not an issue of medical knowledge, they are an issues of ethics or policy. For example: 1. Should 1st trimester abortions be allowed? 2. Should 2nd trimester abortions be allowed? 3. Should 3rd trimester abortions be allowed? 4. Should abortion laws be different for embryos and fetuses conceived by rape? by incest? 5. Should abortion laws be different for embryos and fetuses with genetic defects? 6. Should taxpayers fund abortions in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd trimester? 7. Should taxpayers fund abortions for embryos and fetuses conceived by rape? by incest? 8. Should taxpayers fund abortions for embryos and fetuses with genetic defects? 9. What are the rights of embryos conceived by IVF? 10. Should taxpayers provide free contraception to anyone who wants it? Doctors don't have any particular specialized knowledge that makes them better able to answer these policy questions or ethics questions, and doctors don't agree on the answers to these questions.

Once again, the Democrats prove themselves to be the real racists: An amendment from Republican Sens. Ted Cruz of Texas and Sen. John Kennedy of Louisiana, would have prevented any federal funding for colleges and universities that engage “in a practice that discriminates against Asian Americans in recruitment, applicant review, or admissions.” Sen. John Cornyn of Texas was added as a cosponsor of the amendment. Hirono called it a transparent and cynical attack on longstanding policies that promote diversity, and threatened universities for using policies that courts have upheld. That's 100% false: The billions in federal relief spending during the coronavirus pandemic has markedly excluded millions of people in America: undocumented immigrants. But one U.S. state is taking the opposite tack, moving to offer these excluded workers who lost jobs during the crisis up to $15,600 each. "This is the first time any kind of benefits for undocumented immigrants approach the level of what other kinds of workers get," said David Dyssegaard Kallick, deputy director of the Fiscal Policy Institute (FPI) a nonprofit policy research group. Under a $2.1 billion plan approved last week, nearly 300,000 undocumented people in New York will be eligible for the lump-sum payments, which start at $3,200 https://www.cbsnews.com/news/new-york-state-excluded-worker-relief-fund-gave-2-billion-for-undocumented-worker-aid-heres-why/

Another thing that should be considered. Duante Wright was 5'8" 145 pounds. Neither she nor her trainee could physically control him. She was under a lot of stress, pulled out the wrong weapon, and killed him. I played high school basketball with two guys who went on to become police officers. One was 6'4" 220 pounds. The other was 6'5" 230 pounds and played power forward in college. Either one of those guys could have easily pulled Duante Wright out of that car with 1 hand and restrained him. Police departments need to consider which officers are out there making arrests in potentially violent situations.

There's a common thread between the deaths of George Floyd and Duante Wright. In George Floyd's case, he was much, much larger then the two officers who first attempted to arrest him, so he was able to resist arrest for 4 minutes before Derek Chauvin showed up. In Duante Wright's case, he was able to pull away from the male officer and the female officer who were attempting to arrest him. Neither officer had the strength to physically subdue him, so she tried to reach for her taser and shot him instead. I played high school basketball with two guys who went on to become police officers. One of them was 6'4" 220 pounds, the other was 6'5" 230 pounds. I think had those officers been the ones who had attempted to arrest George Floyd and Duante Wright, the outcomes would have been different.

BD66 comments on Apr 9, 2021:
Absolute,Complete, Utter Nonsense: It’s best to look at the issue in terms of supply and demand. During WWII, almost every industrial country in the world had its infrastructure bombed out. The countries were almost bankrupt as well. The United States was the most notable exception. We emerged from the war with a large portion of the world’s investment capital, a large portion of the world’s industrial infrastructure, and only 5% of the world’s labor. In terms of supply and demand, there was a huge demand for US labor and a small supply of US labor, thus US laborers enjoyed a standard of living they never had before and never will again. During that time, (the 1950’s), a kid in my home town could drop out of high school, get a job at CAT operating a drill press, get married, buy a house, buy a car, raise a family, then retire at age 50 with a pension and healthcare benefits for the rest of his life. What killed all that was the Marshall Plan and our obsession with winning the Cold War. If US Corporations had been allowed to keep more of their profits, they would have had more money to pour back into their factories, so the demand for US labor would have continued to grow, but The Marshall Plan and Cold War related spending took most of the profits from running factories and industries in the United States and sent those profits overseas to countries like Japan and Germany to help them build their factories, and it also sent the profits into the defense industry so we could defend the entire “Free World” By the early 1970’s you started to see VW bugs, Mercedes, BMW, Toyota, and Honda cars on the road. You also started to see Sony consumer products in the home. That would not have been possible so early if the US Government had not taxed US companies at such extremely high rates and sent that money overseas to be invested in foreign factories. By the late 1970’s there was so much foreign competition it took away almost all collective bargaining power of US unions. When CAT workers went on strike in 1978 and 1983, CAT management crushed the unions. Similar things happened in the same time frame in the auto industry. There was already enough labor that could be tapped in foreign countries that it was no longer possible for US workers to demand a huge premium over their foreign counterparts. Now move forward to the end of the Cold War. When the Iron Curtain and the Bamboo Curtain fell, the labor of people in Eastern Europe, the USSR, China, Vietnam, and India became available to anyone who had money to invest. The world’s supply of free-market labor increased by a factor of about 5, while the world’s supply of capital did not increase by much at all. So with much more labor and only a little bit more demand for ...

Common Sense is on the side of Rand Paul. If you have been vaccinated and or if you have contracted Covid-19 and defeated it, that means your body has the immunity to defeat the virus. The virus is not multiplying in your body, and therefore the droplets you exhale will not contain the virus. You are literally wearing a mask for show. That's how every other virus known to man works. That's why once 60% to 70% of the population have either become vaccinated or defeated a disease, a species achieves "herd immunity" Another tremendous failure of Fauci and the CDC has to do with recommendations for the 30,000,000 people who have already contracted Covid-19 and defeated it. Common sense would tell you those people would not need to be vaccinated, so they should go to the back of the line and allow the 300,000,000 people who have not contracted Covid-19 to get vaccinated first. That policy would likely save thousands of lives. However we have heard nothing on that issue from Fauci and the CDC.
Religion kills.

Fail! Jesus's mother was Jewish, so they could get a reasonably accurate idea what a male Jew would have looked like 2000 years ago. However Jesus's father was God, and as far as I know, nobody has ever sequenced God's DNA. If they had, It would have been big news. :-)
I have no doubt.

You should place the blame at the Democrat's new no-cash-bail policies. The thugs that were let out of prison for Covid-19 can prey on small elderly Asian-Americans in the morning, they will be arrested, then back out on the street again preying on small elderly Asian-Americans later that same day.
