I'm an atheist and I'm looking to meet like minded people, which is how I wound up here. Just into platonic though. I'm kind of past the point in my life where I care to argue my beliefs to anyone who believes otherwise... Just want to know more people who are in line with my way of thinking.

What Is one thing I can do to improve or to make my profile more appealing to women? : ) thanks!

You asked... Negative space in your writing. Less info. New (or used) clothes that fit you better. I think that should do it.
It seems to me that now a days people seem to be looking for that "instant connection" with other ...
BangkokBette comments:
I spent 13 years with my ex-husband... Not an instant connection. After him i dated for about 6 months meeting nice people. Then 6 months in, I made that instant connection. Wound up in his bed, and haven't left. It happens, and it's amazing. 10 months later, I'm still excited to hear from him.
Sparked by another member's question: what are your thoughts on girls calling their guys "daddy"? ...
BangkokBette comments:
Like some of the others here, I am always supportive of whatever consenting adults want to do together as long as they're not hurting anyone else. Carpe Diem. Personally... Later in life I had a guy ask me to call him Daddy. Initially, I was like, "what the fuck? Is this an incest/pedophilia thing?" I did some research on the daddy dom stuff, talked with him about his motivations, and was satisfied with the answers I got... So I got myself a daddy. Ive always been submissive, kink wise (dominant in every other facet of life) but this was a whole new sub experience, and a welcome one. Sub stuff, but with so much attention, affection and affirmation. Yes, please! I'm a convert. Anyway, thanks for everyone's honest answers. ☺

BangkokBette comments:
There would be a lot of bad sex going on out there. Blechh.
Is religious eradication a step in the right direction?
BangkokBette comments:
I'm all for religion going the way of the dodo... I think it does much more harm than good. That being said, I'm all for people having freedom of religion. I just hope that someday humanity sits under an umbrella of sanity as religion fades away into the night.
Is Bill Maher the best (living) atheist comedian that does Intelligent humor?
BangkokBette comments:
Or Jeff Jeffries. Funny as shit. Favorite bit (not related to atheism) is about why he doesn't like having sex with Australian girls. Or Ricky Gervais. I did see Maher live last time he was in town. Definitely still funny (and live, he's not just centered on politics) but there is funnier out there.
Is Bill Maher the best (living) atheist comedian that does Intelligent humor?
BangkokBette comments:
Meh. His age is starting to show... Having a hard time keeping up with the times, and starting to bitch about "the way things used to be". I think Sarah Silverman has him beat.

I said... Hey dad, can you stop sending me that stuff? I don't send you pro-atheist stuff because I respect that we have different views. I'm asking that you also respect that we have different views. He stopped... Shocked the hell out of me.
Do you still use religious sayings or phrases?
BangkokBette comments:
Absolutely... Because none of it means anything, but it's in my vernacular because... Culture. But I will say, when I say something like "oh my god" my very religious mother likes to make her comments. So annoying.
I just want to be the reason that some woman somewhere lowers her standards.
BangkokBette comments:
Made me lol. Thanks!
Religious upbringing
BangkokBette comments:
I was raised Pentacostal until about the age of 10... No makeup, long hair, can only wear dresses, fire and brimstone, etc. Then Evangelical until I was 17. I started questioning from very early on, but was terrified of the aforementioned fire and brimstone... so I kept on praying and asking God for a sign he was real. Eventually though, signs not forthcoming, I came to terms with the idea that God as the Bible defines him makes no sense. And then I went through my shrooming period, and the rest is history. Lost my fear of hell, came to terms with the idea that there is probably no higher power, and just started living my life. My religious family doesn't like it, but has accepted it for the most part. I've been an atheist for about 20 years now, so its old news for them.
How long...?

After my divorce I think I went about 3-4 months. Probably the longest I've ever gone since I became sexually active.

BangkokBette comments:
I would ask questions designed to illicit responses to these questions: Are you funny? Are you kinky? Are you kind? Are you honest? 4 most important things to me, and ill take the time to ask as many questions as I need to to find out the (hopefully real) answers to those questions.
Straight Women Get The Fewest Orgasms, Study Finds
BangkokBette comments:
I think maybe that if you are not straight you might be more open to exploration and trying things outside of the cultural norm. Don't know if thats true or not, but seems likely to me. The more adventurous you are the more likely you are to cum, I imagine. Adventurous people adventure... And explore what suits them.
What, in your opinion, is the greatest invention in human history?

Anyone else in an unhappy relationship and don't see a way forward? Any advice?

I was in one, and then after years of considering a divorce I finally got one. Best thing I ever did... I feel alive again.

BangkokBette comments:
I don't think I've ever been rejected for being an atheist, but I've rejected people for being religious. I don't think there's anything wrong with knowing what you want and what you don't.
Positive/negative, give/take, yin/yang.... Any opinions?
BangkokBette comments:
I'm 38, and in my years I have learned that what is almost always true is: if it's hard now, it makes for easy later. If it's easy now, its gonna be hard later. You can pretty much count on it.
Do you think it's a bad idea to date the professor ? Been there done that, he just wanted to tell me...
BangkokBette comments:
If you're into being told what to do (as some of us are) I imagine it woudn't be so bad. 😀 Is it ethical, though? If he's her current professor, I think not. Past professor or someone else's professor, I dont really think it's that big of a deal.
