I pay little attention to the changing of years. They, like gods, time and other holidays are just human inventions to make us feel more in control over what we have little control over. It doesn’t stop me from wishing those I have feelings for a Happy New Year (or Merry Christmas, happy Thanksgiving, or happy birthday. Just a sign of respect. But now, I have crazy ass dreams on a nightly basis, most involving a lot of running around, frustration, confusion or exhaustion. Since I have very little of any of these in my real life, maybe I am just getting all that out of my system! Some are so intense I can wake up, go to the bathroom and be right back in them when I lay down! 😂

I truly doubt most actual Atheists falter in their rationality at the end of life. Agnostics on the other hand may try to cover their bases. My Dad, though we never really discussed it, was I believe an Agnostic. At the end of his life he was fine with pastors coming to his room and praying with him. But I never remember him praying on his own. I have no illusion of any afterlife or savior. Imagine some place with the billions of humans who have inhabited the earth! Just the thought makes me sick and claustrophobic! 😂
