Of course it does! It also contained funding for abstinence education in schools and abortion clinic defunding among other Right Wing favorites. And the Democrats were faced as usual with the choice of holding up a bill critical to so many losing their pay checks and being loudly called obstructionists, or passing it as is and dealing with the bad parts if they can flip the Senate in November. And even when Trump signed it, he did it with a side letter giving him the power to decide how the money gets distributed (in other words, only companies that support him or that the Family has a financial stake in will get rewarded).
Cold chilling facts of how Modi treats his people.
Barnie2years comments on Apr 5, 2020:
This virus will definitely change the world. But for better or worse remains to be seen. Those optimistic will think it will be a better, more accepting place, open to change and transformation. Those pessimistic see a world more like the Hunger Games, factions fighting each other for the scraps, while the elite wealthy make sport and profit as usual. How long does this last? Does it mutate and come back even stronger as the world begins to control it? When does the viral nationalism reach a receptive populace that decides war is the only response to disease? The movie and creative community have been playing out these scenarios for all time, they just never knew when. And even if we get through this one unscathed and a new normal settles in not much different than before, how long until the next global catastrophe? A giant volcano explodes putting the earth in extended darkness? A rogue astroid takes a wrong turn and smashes into our blue marble? I am not a pessimist, but I like to consider myself a realist, thus why I can’t believe in blind faith religion. I live each day the best I can, enjoy the little things that give me pleasure and those few people that please my need for human connection. I am 68, have had what I consider to have been an interesting and pleasant life. I will continue to appreciate that as long as I can, with the knowledge that millions will and have never known that peace in their own lives. What tomorrow brings is way outside the scope of my power and will have to be dealt with when it does. Sorry if I rambled this afternoon. Something about this article made me thoughtful and I figured I would take advantage of this space to put it into words. Thank you to those who may read it and find it interesting.

I sure wish he would start wearing a mask! I have always thought his mouth looked like an asshole, one of the ugliest I had ever seen. I much prefer social networking, which allows me to respond to the news and learn new things at the same time. I get to research facts I was pretty certain of and provide them to clueless trolls so they can swear at me ans call me names for telling the truth to their lies. And sometimes I get called out for a false statement, which I appreciate as well.

There will be changes, but humanity is humanity and the need to socialize, the love of good food and atmospherics, the need for the comfort of a familiar “family” style place to relax will come back. Most of these restaurants will win out and most places will reopen, most likely under the same owners. They will take out loans, find generous patrons to help with funding and the rush, once it is deemed safe to get out, will have it up and humming soon enough. Businesses survive wars, revolutions and disasters, they will survive a virus.
How true is this write-up which been doing the rounds on social media?
Barnie2years comments on Mar 28, 2020:
Conspiracy theory is generally based on some truth, much speculation, seeming logic and base fears. Kind of like religions. Many millionaires will figure out ways to monetize this disaster, in ways China would not be able to. Trump’s daily statements can produce million dollar gains for anyone with advance knowledge, like the Senators and House members who sold off large segments of stock shortly after getting classified information on the virus and before it became public. I haven’t seen it on here, but the American Military are making major adjustments in their operation in preparation for a war with China. That is far more frightening than the possibility of China taking a more colonial stance to obtain needed material for their industries.

Barnie2years comments on Mar 21, 2020:
My feelings exactly! I worked for Bernie last time and was crushed when he lost the nomination. But I held my nose and voted for Hillary. Sadly, no matter which of these two win, I will vote for them because it is the only chance we have of maintaining our democracy. But I would have much preferred have new blood come in as President, with knowledge of the current world order, modern technology, little baggage and a mind that actually works full time. But like the Republicans who held their nose and voted for the ass less likely to win, the Democrats have to get out the vote and hopefully both of them will pick good Vice Presidents so at least when they go off their rocker we will have gotten a good second string President.

This is just life as normal pretty much for me, I pretty much stay home by myself 90% of the time anyway. Thanks to the Internet, I never feel lonely. In fact I have more interaction, even if it is virtual, with more people than I ever did. I actually feel less alone because I have found communities of people that think at least close to my thoughts. Something I rarely felt before, so thanks all of you on here among others on Facebook. The only down side so far is with my Mom. She is in an independent living facility (beautiful apartment) but has not dealt well with the death of my father five years ago. She is a people person and the residence where she lives had a very active social schedule. Movies, live entertainment, ice cream socials, three meals a day etc. Due to the virus they have eliminated all of these, including only serving one meal a day which they require the residents to take out. They have also eliminated outside visitation. I usually went over two or three times a week, and we would eat out every Sunday. Since all restaurants are closed in PA, that is not going to happen for a while either. I am not sure how she is going to get through this isolation period, which could last for weeks if not months. But there is not much that can be done, given the circumstances.

[boredpanda.com] Animals in streets during coronavirus quarantine. Will it happen in the States?
Barnie2years comments on Mar 19, 2020:
Could be a matter of time before we start seeing this in the US, though I think the deer and the monkeys are an issue due to tourists reductions. That was their main source of food and since they are not coming around, the animals must search elsewhere. I am sure there are some areas in the US where tourist feeding is a primary source of food (Oatman, AZ comes to mind, with the wild donkeys, but they already take over the town during the day). I could see bears become a problem with less people going to cabins and camping, where they scrounge for food.
