Businesses have made millions off Trump's child separation policy

They returned a few last year and are working on returning more this year. Sadly, the bodies buried under some of the tombstones are not the ones on the marker. If you dehumanize people, I guess there would be no need to respect their final resting place. Separating children from their parents is obviously not a new thing either, as long as they are "the other people." It was done with the Jews in Germany, the native Americans in this country and is still being done by the Boco Haram in Nigeria. It is the ultimate in mistreatment and a sure sign of the moral decay. And interestingly enough, quite popular with religious groups.

They are taking pages from Nazi documents to justify the elimination of Jews and applying it to people fleeing their countries to save their children. There is nothing new here, just putting a new twist on an old scapegoat. When your government is slimier than a greased pig, you need to create evil boogeyman (or in this case children) to distract the easily swayed from what is really your intentions.

I have this issue every time there is a tragedy and the news crews find some simpleton to interview who says god spared them, their home, their family, their pets, while not acknowledging that by saying that, their god then becomes responsible for the destruction, death, injury and mayhem that has happened to their friends and neighbors? You can’t have one without the other, sorry! When that tornado goes through that little town, where almost everyone goes to the same church, worships the same god, and that pencil line of destruction missed your home... If I was one of the homeowners that lost everything, I might be tempted to strangle you when I hear you say god spared you but aimed for me! ?

So sad when you invent a god that you use for your own convenience without taking in all the ramifications of what you say you believe. If you truly believe this crap, that your god is all powerful, then you have to hold it responsible for every tortured child, every pedophile, every disease that those children will suffer (we won't even talk about the adults). You are worshiping the most evil bastard to never exist. Thanks, I'll pass myself. Mankind is by it's nature no prize, giving birth to a child who will become a burden not just on your the life of the mother, but others, just for the sake of some other person's belief is not at all what being a human is about. Animals give birth because they have no means of controlling it, and when they overpopulate, disease and natural selection take over the task of thinning the population (though hunting, killing gods creatures, is quite permissible for most christians, even the pacifists). Take your religion out of my laws!

Are you cheating if you are open to your partner about your other relationship(s)?
Barnie2years comments on Jun 1, 2018:
By definition, I would think that if you are in an agreed upon open relationship, the word cheating does not apply. If you are cheating, then you are withholding information from your partner and hiding your affair as much as possible. It’s kind of like going into a store and they have a rack of merchandise marked “Free” and the next shelf has priced items. If you take a free item it is not shoplifting. If you take the priced item, you are. Best example I could come up with quickly! ?
Would you consider having sex with a bearded man?
Barnie2years comments on May 30, 2018:
I get tired of shaving sometimes and grow one. I keep it trimmed, I can’t deal with hair getting in my mouth or food. Then, at some point I nick some off with the trimmer, and start yo get into various configurations, depending on mood: from goatee to fumanchu. At some stage, I get tired of trimming and start shaving again. I have found overall women accept it as well as men accept their women making drastic changes to their hair style, going long to short, or short to shorter. They get used to it either way for the most part.
Do you remember your dreams?
Barnie2years comments on May 29, 2018:
One more little thought on the subject. Dogs and cats seem to have dreams. Anyone with a pet can tell you that they frequently are moving their paws and making sounds as they dream. Also, little kids have dreams and nightmares, long before they have a whole lot of things to remember. My stepson had night terrors, where in the middle of the night he would be screaming and thrashing, yelling random words out. They would last for maybe 10 minutes or so, then he would calmly go back to sleep. He was about three at the time, if I recall, and I read up that it is fairly common around that age group and they outgrow it after a year or two, which he did. So the idea that dreams have some hidden meaning is hard to imagine given that they can happen to all creature and all ages, with no possible interpretational basis.
Do you remember your dreams?
Barnie2years comments on May 29, 2018:
I used to seldom have dreams, that I was aware of at least, and generally only had a vague memory of those that I did remember. However, one of the medications I got put on after my heart issue has changed all that, and I now dream every night, all night long, sometimes they seem to start before I am even asleep! And while they are not nightmare, they always involve a lot of activity or frustration, running around, crazy stunts, or on rare occasions, sex. So I wake up in the morning, I am exhausted, more tired than when I went to bed. Waking for a bathroom stop doesn't even help, since I go right back into the dream where I left off as soon as my head hits the pillow! I have changed one medication that the doctor thought might be causing the issue, but it didn't have any effect on it, I would love to go back to my nice quiet blank sleep nights! Too tired to try and figure out hidden meanings for the dreams!

You are responsible for everything that happens in your life, good or bad. If they have such low self esteem as to believe some magic force provides for them, feel sad for them. Unlike you, they can never fully appreciate their own strength and accomplishments.

Primaries are generally not a good forecast of the general election, especially in areas where there is not too many people running in one or the other party. I know on my ballot here in PA, for my district, there was pretty much no choice, unless you wanted to write in someone, since only one Democrat was running for each office (our incumbent governor, senator, etc.), except the lieutenant governor. Thant was the only one that had an actual choice. We can only hope that by November will have screwed things up so badly that the Republicans will stay home out of disgust and the Democrats register and show up at the polls!
Love is the answer.
Barnie2years comments on May 20, 2018:
Very optimistic and sounds like a Beatles song. But not in the reality of human interaction. In point of fact, one could say the latest Texas shooter went on the killing spree because his love was not reciprocated. Love is often used as a tool, if unreciprocated, an excuse to harm. People love their religion, their kin and clan, their country, their leaders. Not all of these are healthy love, but love non the less. And reality is that we all know how loving the church is to those not in the fold, gays, Atheists, other religions and other beliefs. So while it sounds lovely, it is not within the realm of possibility.

Barnie2years comments on May 20, 2018:
No drama to me would mean they don't want a person in the middle of a contentious divorce. Or with major family issues, either children, parents, or siblings. Or it could mean drug or alcohol issues. In other words, in the middle of the plots of your average soap opera. Dram as entertainment is far more interesting than drama in real life.
What was the most harrowing experience that you have ever had?
Barnie2years comments on May 18, 2018:
There has been a few. Getting caught in a whirlpool at a New Jersey beach, having my face slammed into the bottom sand, in about 5 foot of water, as I had been swimming along. Was only about 5 or 6, and I didn’t think I could get out of it, but once I hit bottom it let up. Another was crossing an ice covered quarry with a friend. He was ahead of me and had gotten to the bank and around to the path out. I was still about five foot out, when the ice started to crack, and suddenly I was in the cold water of a deep quarry, struggling to find the edge. I was dressed for winter, with heavy clothes. I would come up for air, see my friend on the path, curse him out for not coming to help me, go back under, kicking, trying to find the edge. I came up for the third time, and was running out of steam! Sank again and suddenly I felt solid ground. I clawed my way up the steep bank and around to the path, I gave my friend hell for not coming to help me (he really couldn’t have done much without risking sliding in himself). Then we had to try and figure out how to get me dried off before we went back to his house, since we were not supposed to be in the quarry. After we found we couldn’t get the snow covered wood to light up to start a fire, we rode our bikes to his house. Then, as luck would have it, no one was home anyway. We tossed my clothes in the dryer and never told anyone, until many years later.

Everybody, non believers, believers, can have a medical problem. From the Pope to Stephen Hawking, we are born, we live, some have medical issues, others get through life in relative good health. What you believe has no bearing on how your life proceeds health wise. Praying won't do a damn thing for your health, otherwise there would be no need for hospitals, modern medicine and medication. Take care of yourself, let your doctor help you through your issue, and maintain a positive attitude. Those will help you get back on your feet, not getting on your knees.

How Has Your Sexual Libido Changed As You Have Aged?
Barnie2years comments on May 12, 2018:
I was very sexual in my younger days, had my share of fun, both married and out. After my last marriage to a woman who made sex with me seem like a burden that she had to deal with a couple of times a month, it hasn't been the same. I want LOVE to be turned on, and that is kind of hard when I can barely get a dinner date. I was always very open about sexuality, have no real hangups when it comes to normal body fluids. I have always put my partner's pleasure ahead of mine. Masturbation is fine to keep the prostate in shape, but I sure do miss the smell, feel, taste and warmth of a female human body next to mine! ;-(.

Death of a loved one
Barnie2years comments on May 12, 2018:
I agree! Has nothing to do with an afterlife either. If your death was preceded with a painful disease, an emotional torment, torture of some kind, loss of mental capacity, death is a release. You have none of those things anymore. If the death was in an accident, a murder, or other sudden causes, then they are not in a better place, they are dead before their time. My Dad suffered with a lot of pain, nervousness about everything, and a loss of interest in life for several years before he died. Death for him was a better place than the daily loss of his spirit and joy of life. I look forward to my own death even now as a relief from the slings and arrows of daily life. I would not precipitate it, nor do I fear it.

My dads entire life he was an Atheist.
Barnie2years comments on May 10, 2018:
I could envision my Mom doing this if she had the chance! She was brought up Brethren, an anabaptist Christian faith. My Dad’s family was Methodist, and because we moved around a lot and it was much easier to find Methodist churches, she pretty much joined that faith. But it was too late! My sister and I were already grown and non believers. I the anabaptist faith, babies are not baptized. You concecrate yourself to the faith when you are old enough to make the decision to accept god (Amish and Mennonites are the same). One of her biggest regrets is that my sister and I were never baptized, because in her mind, whether we believe or not, if we had had water sprinkled on our heads and some mumbo-jumbo spoke over us, we would at least stand a chance of getting to heaven. I generally try to refrain from laughing. But I could truly see her, if I was in a coma or unable to defend myself, sneaking a preacher in and doing a Christian Intervention! ? It won’t make a damn bit of difference to me, but I am sure it would make her feel better, so I would never ban her from my room!
Growing up in the baptist cult.
Barnie2years comments on May 9, 2018:
I have never abandoned family over their or my beliefs. My sister and I are the only Atheists in my close family. When I was married, it was never a problem with the in-laws. I don’t go around making a big deal of my non belief, and I don’t make a big deal about their chosen belief. Kind of like the last couple of decades of my Dad’s life. He was a staunch Republican, me a progressive Liberal. When we were together, we just didn’t talk politics. Or, if he went on a rant against Obama, I just let it go off and then we went back to other subject. If you can accept your chosen path without waving it like a flag in everyone’s face, they should be able to deal with it if they love you. If they can’t, just limit the time spent with the family members who are most hateful, and keep the door to communication open to those who are trying to understand. And don’t make it a crusade for your lifestyle, while not denying who you are. Just be the better person.
I've been following the story of the teenage boy in Alabama who was pronounced brain dead.
Barnie2years comments on May 7, 2018:
Machines are fallible and the human body can do odd things. One of the reasons most states require a three day waiting period before a body is cremated. In this case, he suffered a major head trauma. His brain may have gone into a hibernation mode, just as some trauma requires induced coma. If he was seeing fields, he was having dreams, relaxing dreams. And thank goodness they waited a bit to start harvesting organs. I’m not sure they don’t rush that sometimes.

If my mom, should she still be living, or my son, who has embrassed religion thanks to his wife, need to pray, they can do it on their own. My son accepts my Atheism, so I don’t foresee a problem with him, and he will deal with my mother’s needs to deal with their god issues. I also purchased a special biodegradable urn, which when planted in the ground with a seed in the top will become a Maple tree. What a great article! The most recent example of Right Wing double standards is all the hand wringing and teeth nashing over the comedy presentation at the Correspondents Dinner and a comment about Sarah Huckabees eye shadow, which was not the actual punch line of the joke. Those making the most noise are voters and supporters of a man that mocked a disabled reporter, called a female primary opponent ugly, makes fun of people's stature, perspiration, family connection and none of it in a comedic way, in a comedy venue. The Right finds this kind of evil humor from their president perfectly acceptable.

I am totally supportive of nudism. I grew up in Europe, where religious driven body shaming does not have the strangle hold it does here in the US. I have been to nudist camps, beaches and resorts and had a great time. But on the other hand, I don’t believe in imposing my naked body on people who’s personal sensibilities make them view the human body as something disturbing. There are entire villages in France that are clothing optional. We could use some of thos over here in the good old hung up USA, but my guess is the “righteous” for miles around would go on the warpath! ?
What is it do you think that makes you resistant to organized religions! Is it the structure?
Barnie2years comments on Apr 29, 2018:
Because organized religions are personality driven, much more so than deity controlled. Why is there thousands of Christian sects, why? They are all working out of the same book. Religion is driven by the con men who make up the rules and collect the tolls. From the Popes to Martin Luther, from the TV evangelists to the tent ones, from Shakers to Amish, they are driven by the personalities of their founders and their leaders who follow in their footsteps. This is why I don’t believe in Religion, appart from the fact that the idea of a god defies any logic based in reality. They have less validity than many social clubs.

“The Perfect Man” Americans Love a Con Man!
Barnie2years comments on Apr 28, 2018:
I came VERY close to getting scammed! I had run into a few others, but most of them were pretty easy to spot and tripped themselves up early in the game. But one, on a legitimate foreign dating site (one of my friends met his wife on it) came very close to costing me a lot of money. Fortunately, at the last minute I started doing some research and all it cost me was depression and a little heartbreak (not major, because in the back of my mind, I knew it was too good to be true). My guess is the article made it seem lopsided to women getting ripped off because a lot of men would be too embarrassed to report it or file a complaint.

Sadly, humanity has often reversed course before moving forward. The forces of evil and fear of change are too often stronger than those of progress and forward thinking. Progress always wins in the end, but the detour of recidivism can be harrowing.
Dating after 50
Barnie2years comments on Apr 27, 2018:
For us people of a certain age, dating and finding that special someone is way more of a challenge than it is for the younger people. Dating is much easier for some than others at any age, but the older we get, the longer we are alone or not in a relationship, the harder it becomes as far as I can tell. When we are young and starting out, we meet someone who knocks us off our feet and fall in love. Chances are, we live at home, have limited income, big plans for the future and looking for someone to go through life with. Once we meet that person, we start our plans together, careers open up and we make life choices that meet our needs. And than the shit hit the proverbial fan, for whatever reasons, the relationship goes south, we don't meet each others needs, love dies, family and work take a toll on the romance and we get divorced, sometimes several times. Each time, we go in hoping the person will be the storybook romance we see others have, best friends, shared interests, shared families. But it doesn't work out. Then for many, there comes a time of just being single. For many women, it seems to be while their kids are growing up, they don't want to bring new men into their lives and have it not work out. For men, it could be a career that is just too demanding to have time for romance and the effort of dating. Or we just have no interest in the heartbreak. Time goes by and through some means (On-line dating, chance encounter) we meet someone who stirs up interest, maybe go out a few times, get to feel like we enjoy each others company. But unlike the young lovers, we have each a long history, own our homes, have our own families and friends, habits and interests that have been nurtured for years. Our own financial situations, debts, and spending habits. Maybe one likes to eat out most nights, one like to cook at home or eat spur of the moment. If you get together, do we spend our time in your place or my place? If we decide to be a couple, what do we do with the finances, our family obligations, our furniture and collections? Admittedly, some are better at this than others. Some people have limited possessions, no financial obligations and the transition is fairly easy, but most not so much. This is not to say it can't work, I have certainly known a few who made the transition without too much drama and had a very successful end of life relationship. But I have known many more that could not make it work. I have limited hope in finding that person, but have not closed the door as some on here have. But I try to keep my hopes realistic and accept that I may just die alone. I have grown comfortable with my own company after 10 years of being by myself. Not how I pictured my life, but better than being in a bad marriage as I see so ...

Barnie2years comments on Apr 23, 2018:
First, he should be arrested as a seditionost and terrorist. Second, his position has been adopted by the current president, which means the people rebelling are going to have to be the “others” he so fears. Third, the “America” he misses so badly never existed in the first place. It was built by those he hates the most, only they were called slaves, coolies (Chinese slave labor that built the railroads), native Americans who were forced off their fertile ancestral lands into barren lands, then pushed off them again when they contained oil. This is the proud heritage this ass speaks of so proudly. American conservatives and Right Wing fundamentalists are dangerous and until they are neutered by voters and at some point rendered powerless, they will be as dangerous as the Taliban ever was in Afghanistan.
Has anyone come across any fake profiles?
Barnie2years comments on Apr 19, 2018:
Ha, ha. One wanted to contact me by email. I gave her an address, even though she was way too young (mid 30’s). When she contacted me and she was looking for “a God fearing....” man, the jig was up! I send a message back and told her she might want to look somewhere besides an Atheist website for her God fearing men. English grammar was off as well as some other obvious signs of fake profile. She came back with some shaky run around. Gave me a good laugh anyway.
Have we really evolved that much from when these signs were out on display here in America?

The signs aren’t there, but the sentiments are. And thanks to the current administration and their so called religious freedom interpretation of law, the signs will soon become commonplace once again.

Mourning a death
Barnie2years comments on Apr 16, 2018:
I have found most religious people I know seem to suffer as much, probably more than I do. I consider myself a realist. Every thing that lives dies. No one escapes. I admire their lives well lived, sad if they are short (lost my first son at 15 months old), grateful if they are long (my father died 3 years ago at 90), and happy for the time I got to spend with them. I may miss them, but I accept that life is fleeting and those alive carry on.
What happens after death?
Barnie2years comments on Apr 16, 2018:
Death is void. The only part of you (or in this case your dog) that stays behind is the happy memories you shared with the people around you, your children or in this case puppies that will carry on your DNA and photos taken. I find it the highgth of idolatry for humans to believe they are so important in the scheme of the universe that their lifetime is not enough, they need an extension in some form. We are born from the random matching of one of millions of sperm with one random egg. We spend whatever time we manage to survive on this earth and then at some random time, we die. End of story. Anything else is memories and fantasy for those who remain. And I actually find that comforting.
Who else is spring cleaning?
Barnie2years comments on Apr 14, 2018:
I tend to nothing on a schedule. Spring cleaning makes as much sense as New Years resolutions. Why does it have to be spring, when there are so many much more fun things to do? The warmer weather is great for going hiking, playing outside, motorcycle or bicycle rides, visiting friends and any number of things much more fun than tortureing yourself about what to throw out, what to keep, cleaning every speck of dust, given that with spring pollen, most of it will be back with a vengence within a few days anyway. If you have to pick a season to clean, do it in the winter when you are stuck inside anyway on cold dreary days.

It will continue far beyond that. Even taking relgious beliefs out of the equation, these are decendents from nomadic tribes thousands of years old, they have been at war with each other for those thousands of years. They were ruthless killers the entire time. Then only real thing that changed is the weapons they use and the devestation they cause. No religion could change that.

The degree of desperation and hate in these states and now our federal government has absolutely reached an all time low! How about.
Barnie2years comments on Apr 12, 2018:
Regret, much like worry, is wasted energy. I have often told people that life doesn't have a rewind button. Those things you did, or did not do, in your past are what got you to where you are now, good or bad. You can affect the future, you live in the present, the past is over and done. And, as a non believer, there is nothing after! ? Don't waste it trying to rethink what could have been. In the long run, it might have turned out worse.
Teen Age Sex, the worst outcome!
Barnie2years comments on Apr 12, 2018:
Actually, the first answer is better than the two middle ones, but why choose a arbitrary start age? There are many kids who don't wait even until their teen years to become sexually active in some way. Why wait? Make it age appropriate as much as possible, don't threaten and don't lie. These defeat the purpose.

I drove city bus most of my working life. A lot of these people are scammers. The one guy in particular used to get off work (I think at Alcoa Aluminum) then set up at the mall exit for a couple of hours with a variety of cardboard signs he carried in his backpack. One said he was a homeless veteran, yet on Veterans Day, when anyone with proof of service could ride free, he paid his fare. A couple of the others used to coordinate schedules so they each had a turn. I donate nothing to them.

I stayed friends, after a cooling down period of about 5 years, with two of my three wives. The second one just died last year, so now I only get to talk to one, but I help her and her son out as much as I can. And since I don't have any other relationship, it gives me some human contact. Besides, I fell in love with her little boy as much as I did with her and I am the only father he has ever really known, since her choice of men has been rather crappy at least as far as he is concerned. I would say a lot of your "friendship" with this fellow will depend on how his wife chooses to deal with it. I never got friendly to the point that I wanted to hand around with either of their boyfriends. Luckily, they didn't hand around too long! LOL!

Prostitution, how do you feel about it?
Barnie2years comments on Apr 5, 2018:
Prostitution should be legalized and regulated as any other business. Everyone sells their body, if not their soul, when they go to work, especially in physical jobs. Is a coal miner, a sweatshop factory worker, or even a professional athlete not selling their youth, their bodies to the highest bidder? If they are doing it willingly, with full knowledge of what the risks are, what is the difference? Except religion decided long ago that if it could control people doing the things they enjoyed the most (sins), they could easily control other thoughts and actions of their believers. So they threaten hell and damnation to those who don’t subscribe to the churches whim, and when that doesn’t work, use their influence to create laws to met out earthly physical punishment. Anything that provides physical pleasure needs to be a sin, because if you’re having too good a time in life, the afterlife reward starts to look a little less enticing and you might not feel the need to go spend your money at church to buy your way into heaven next Sunday. And religion is a business for sure.
