Case in point: if my daughter is on a certain flight to Israel, all female employees have to tell the passengers, if asked, if they are on their period. Take a look at a map of countries not controlled or under British rule - not many. Lots of countries go back centuries with atrocities. The Americas were decimated by the Europeans - all of them at some time - The Swedes had a colony in Delaware, very briefly. Some countries, like Haiti, have been economically, and now environmentally devastated. Anyway, 20 million Natives living in the Americas died from disease and were pushed aside or enslaved ( turned out easier - they rebelled, they were not lazy - stupid history - to bring over slaves from Africa. Haiti has been free for a while - they declared it during the French Revolution, then defeated the troops sent by Napolian. And in punishment, they have been ignored and left to rot.

Being from Lancaster, PA, I acknowledge that every other city of that name has an English pronunciation while in PA it is Dutchified. Lankaster rather than Lan - caster.
