Belief is the death of intelligence do you agree?
BestWithoutGods comments on Apr 24, 2019:
Faith, as defined in the biblical book of Hebrews, is belief without evidence. It is seen by religionists as a virtue. However, it is in reality a vice. We must follow facts and evidence if we are to determine what is true and what is false.
BestWithoutGods replies on Apr 25, 2019:
@Geoffrey51 Having pondered this overnight, I am willing to have a rational discussion if you are. To clarify my position, I see nothing wrong with mythology or other kinds of fiction or art, as long as they are labeled as such. The problem with religion is that it teaches that mythology is reality. They discourage scientific thought and encourage their followers, instead, to exercise belief without requiring evidence. Art is good when it is recognized as art. It becomes dangerous when pawned off as reality.

I did a "dislike" on this post. To explain, it is the pope's comment I dislike. I like the fact that you have exposed him as the fraud he is. Thanks for the post.

Lived in Sicily for a few years. Enjoyed it. Where in Italy are you visiting/from?
BestWithoutGods replies on Apr 19, 2019:
I have a condo in north-west Italy. It's a town called Baveno on Lago Maggiore. I'm at the foot of the Alps, and I can see their snow-covered peaks across the lake. I live here three months a year, and spend the rest of the year in Tennessee. It's good to get a break from the U.S. news.
Ciao from Italy!

It's comfortable. Sometimes at night I wear a light jacket, but generally it's really nice this time of year.
