Tolkien finished his translation in 1926, and his son edited the work and the book. And, yes, I'm being my position on second hand knowledge, but it seems to be evidence based, unbiased, knowledge, rather than agenda based gibberish. "Evidence" can be interpreted in a variety of ways, I agree, or it can simply be ignored, or worse. The minister who established the Creation Museum, in Kentucky, Minister Hamm, did so in response to what he, himself, on live TV at the time, called "overwhelming" evidence for evolution. It bothered him so much that he just stuck his head even deeper into the sand of his god delusion! The evidence for human caused global warming is, also, overwhelming, and that is what I base my opinion upon.

That, of course,is ridiculous, even from their perspective. IF god is not real without love, then WE create god when we love? So, their god did not exist until beings were capable of love? Wow, who, then created the universe? Even if we assume that "Adam" fell in love with "Eve" in the first instance of seeing her, how could a god who had not existed until then have created them? It' all such bullshit!

He can lie so much because he needs to defend/hide his emptiness from himself and the world. He has no center of substance, or anything, is empty, and must maintain his delusion that he's the only one who has it all together...not even the generals. People who believe him are showing a cultish obedience, paying blind obeisance to their chosen leader (Fuhrer), who they believe will save them from their own empty, miserable, hopeless lives. It's just like those who ned to believe in a god, and a reward in a next life, after their current mortal torments.

It is not a "quicker," sit on the beach and read for fun, and to pass the time, kind of book. It has been years since I read it, and might consider reading it again, but my book list grows so much faster than ai can read. I started "Thus Spake Zarathrusta," yesterday, by Nietzsche, and am close to giving it back to the library. Despite the explanations about it, in the introduction, it seems like so much gibberish, to me, anyway. I read a bio. of Nietzsche a while ago, and generally think highly of him, but this is a bit much. I read a some of Keroack's classic, "On the Road," and put it aside, some years ago. It was not gibberish, but seemed like a child's later from camp: We did this, today, and then we did that, and then we did that, on and on. Truman Capote's review of the book was "This is not writing, this is typing." But, Hamlet's Mill, became engrossing, despite being, as I recall, dense.
