TL;DR Used to only know Christ, became atheist, now want to know why we're here at all.

I started out life as a devout Christian. After offering to pray for a classmate who was listening to heavy metal (we're very close friends even now), I found myself drawn to it as well. It's hard to enjoy heavy metal without eventually learning to question your beliefs.

After spending a few years as an atheist and absorbing everything I could about current scientific theory on the state of reality, I found it lacking when asking the question of why we exist. I looked to religious teachings which increasingly sounded more like history mixed with Chinese whispers. So now I seek to find the reason for existence, using any means possible.
