I can get short with people and not give them thoughtful responses to their questions or comments. I can also withdraw emotionally. But many times I’m able to take a more Zen view and let things roll off me, figure the job will get done eventually, it’s not that important, and/or it’s not worry getting upset about in the long term.

If it is a text or email conversation I will simply not respond after a point and after a warning that I’m not going to respond further. If it’s in person I can leave the conversation physically, just walk out after a warning that the subject is closed. Likenother have said, I try not to have that kind of friend in my life.

I decided on the American Red Cross as my volunteer activity of choice. I’ve settled into the logistics role. It’s more behind the scenes, procurement, warehousing, getting and supplying the things needed in a disaster response. I have been in the responses to hurricane Florence, hurricane Michael, California wildfires, and tornadoes in east alabama. I enjoy being able to help out without the intense emotional stress of handling “clients’” problems directly. Logistics is something that is necessary though and I have skills in those areas. When there is no disaster I meet with other logistics workers and we try to get things ready for when the next shoe drops. They just named me logistics Lead for all of the western half of North Carolina. It will be interesting to see how I do encouraging volunteers in their jobs.

I've met the perfect guy on that fishing site. Is it possible that he is real?

I have been on POF, OkCupid and Tinder. All were free for the basic use including emailing/chatting. I preferred OkCupid because they have a lot of questions you can answer, which gives a better feel for the person. But when emailing I just use real words. You can catch scammers because of their poor English often.

Savannah GA and Charleston SC are good cities on the coast that give a nice ante bellum feel. There is a museum in Charleston with the Hunkey, tjenforst sibmarine ever. Farther up the SC is Myrtle beach, the birthplace ofnthendance called the Shag - a form of swing. There are also a few lighthouses on the NC coast such as Cape Hatteras, and the outer banks (re: movie Nights in Rodanthe).

The North Carolina mountains are nice. Asheville is beautiful. You can catch the blue ridge parkway in Georgia I believe and follow it up
