This song reminds me of camping as a teenager, with a crappy little cassette player blasting it heart out and the few boys who could play guitar doing their best to play it for us while we sang it probably incorrectly as we had only listened to it. Great days/nights

I have loved this band since forever, so many great songs. I had them playing as I recovered from knee surgery and a nurse or two used to hang in my room listening with me.
I certainly would not have wanted to serve under this guy.
Budgie comments on Aug 7, 2020:
Not sure about military but I am a teacher part of our code of conduct states we must support the government of the day "7.1 Support to Government of the Day Employees shall provide full support to the Government of the day regardless of which political party or parties are in office. 7.3 Implementation of Government Policy Employees are also responsible for carrying out decisions and implementing programs promptly, conscientiously and with full regard to Government policy. In implementing programs, an employee’s own values should not supplant those explicit or implicit in Government policy. Obviously, it will be necessary both in providing advice and in implementing programs to exercise judgement as to which facts or courses of action are most relevant or important. Judgement must, however, always be exercised with due regard to legislative requirements, Government policy or a supervisor’s directions together with considerations of equity and efficiency." "9.2 Public Comment on Government Matters Except where required by law, or as authorised by the responsible Chief Executive Officer, an employee must not make public comment on Government matters in an official capacity. 9.3 Circumstances in which Public Comment is Inappropriate While employees, as members of the community, have the right to make public comment and enter into public debate on political and social issues, there are some circumstances in which public comment is inappropriate. These include: • The implication that the public comment, although made in a private capacity, is in some way seen to be an official comment of the Government or of the employee’s agency. • Where an employee is directly involved in advising on or directing the administration or implementation of Government policy and the public comment would compromise his or her ability to continue to do so in an efficient and professional manner. •Where public comment, regardless of the connection (or lack of connection) with an employee’s normal duties, amounts to criticism sufficiently strong or persistent to give rise to the public perception that the employee is not prepared to implement or administer the policies of the Government of the day as they relate to his or her duties." I would imagine there is something similar in the military code of ethics so what he did would be a violation of at least one of these. In my classroom if I talk about the government in a disparaging manner I can lose my job.
Not everyone has had the experience of seeing a Monitor lizard.
Budgie comments on Aug 4, 2020:
Lizards are loaded with salmonella and as I ask the students I teach have you ever seen one brush his teeth after eating rotten meat? The carry so many bacteria and don't fall ill from it. The victim dies from blood loss or just a massive dose of bacteria. Venomous lizards are rare but include the gila monster, mexican bearded lizard, and komodo dragon, I have not heard of a monitor being venomous.

I guess it give people some insight into the person ie are you a tv in the bedroom person or not and some people find others eating in bed gross. I know when I was in hospital I refused to eat in bed. My breakfast would be brought in and I would call for a nurse to help me get to the chair (knee surgery so unsteady and had to have a nurse with me) The one time I ate in bed in the hospital I had food crumbs in the bed when they came to help me to my shower I hated it.

So hard different things at different times but maybe being thoughtful and doing something you do not have to do just to make the other person feel special. ie a boyfriend wrote me a poem (terrible poem very corny) just to show how he felt, that was romantic, I came home from work, tired and stressed, a boyfriend made me a cup of tea and gave me a foot massage that was romantic. Can not agree with you on that one. If this greedy bastard gets his way then the NT will not be able to close down its borders. We had no community spread and most of us continued on. Schools were still open, bars and restaurants were closed and family gatherings were not allowed, hospitals and aged care facilities severely restricted or stopped visits. People pretty much did the right thing. When a few idiots broke their quarantine it became mandatory at your cost in a hotel or Corona Springs (the old Howard Springs camp for Impex workers which was fenced and could be isolated from all but a few workers) Being a Territory not a state we could have had the federal government come in and wreck everything for us. Thankfully our Chief Minister (and I generally do not have nice things to say about politicians) made the hard decisions early and we are now getting back to normal. HOWEVER, we have had Victorians come in lying and breaking quarantine, I now self isolate more than I did before, I only go out if I have to. We have a vulnerable population in our indigenous peoples as many have medical issues, their communities shut down with only those that absolutely had to going in and out. One of them who controls a wilderness area are threatening to shut it down if the local airport opens as they will not be able to quarantine people. Palmer is just annoyed someone told him no and is throwing a tantrum. He could have had his meeting via skype or zoom this is just grandstanding and shows how little he cares for people in general.

Happy Friday, Everyone! When you're shopping for a hotel, what do you find is most important?
Budgie comments on Jul 26, 2020:
location, in relation to public transport and what I am going to be doing while there, also ease to get to and from my transport to the place (generally plane but sometimes train) I have places in Melbourne and the Gold Coast that I hope are still there when I get to go travelling again. cleanliness and cost followed by places to buy meals. I don't need anything fancy or huge I am mainly looking for somewhere to store my gear and safe to sleep in. Don't need room service etc just basic housekeeping I tell them to leave the sheets and towels until I leave (many of our hotels have this option) But it is nice to come back to a made bed each day.
Good afternoon everyone! What's your favourite mixed drink?
Budgie comments on Jul 26, 2020:
Vodka mudshakes (just like a chocolate milkshake only alcoholic) bundy red and coke, swamp water (pineapple and orange juice (with pulp) add midori, vodka, blue curacao, goes an interesting green colour, freeze (well try to) and you have a swamp slushie.

Budgie comments on Jul 25, 2020:
As someone living in the NT who was going out and doing my normal shopping etc I am now holed up at home only going out if necessary and avoiding crowds. 10,000 people have crossed the NT borders and that scares me, we have had incidences of people lying about where they have come from (Melbourne said ACT via Qld) who went to a remote community (many people with compromised health.) We have about 400 in mandatory isolation, one remote community was told that their airport was opening (no where for people to isolate) so they shut down the nature park they manage (the reason people come to their town) until we do not have idiots who feel that they can do what they please and that rules do not apply to them (the moronic bitch who refused to answer the police and somehow got past the border control (copper should be charged as well) and thought it was a great joke https://www.perthnow.com.au/news/vic/coronavirus-victoria-melbourne-woman-eve-black-slammed-after-video-defying-police-at-covid-19-checkpoint-ng-b881618952z?utm_source=emarsys=email=PerthNow+Noon+update+24.07.20=IwAR2Zg2SVt89_309UOf-nq-eYyPdyoLSo81o8k68Oj6LOa0TSg_xR9_Q-CzM) I do not feel safe now that the borders are open I did before. If Melbourne and NSW had there infections under control I would not worry so much. I will be following the advice of science/medical experts on what needs to be done to ensure my safety and that of those around me. I don't care if people think I am an alarmist or a sheep I would rather be alive and with no compromised health. That is if I manage to survive the initial infection.

Budgie comments on Jul 24, 2020:
I have three they crow to each other, was trying to stop them crowing very early in the morning, was told to put them in a cage at night where they could not stretch up their neck, buggers worked out how to crow regardless, tried putting them in a darkened shed, still crowed, decided that we would just have to live with it. While sometimes it is a warning my lot crow just for the sheer joy of it.

I tell them to get off my property. Had a pair that reached over a 6ft metal panel gate to unlock the D shackle on the gate to open it. I was recovering from knee surgery and had to wear a padded brace on my leg (imagine a cricket pad over your entire leg in tropical heat) I watched them walk down the drive, they knocked I got up it was about 9am on a weekend morning. I opened the door the screen door was locked and shut. They started to talk I launched, Told them it was disrespectful to arrive at someone's house before 10am on a weekend, that I had leg surgery and had to strap on the brace to get up to answer (I was still in my pjs) that they had unlocked a gate to gain access to the house and that they had until the count of three to be the other side of the gate as that was when I was going to open the screen door and let my dog out. She, a beautiful german shepherd had started her low rumble growl that she reserved for when animals were prowling around outside of the house. ONE, they turned and ran, TWO I opened the door, They reached the gate as my pup got to them. She sat (not allowed out without us so would not leave) as they shut the gate growling at them. Then I saw their hands come over and the locked the gate. I went back to my bed in the lounge and continued watching TV with my brother who could of answered the door but it was more fun me doing it.

Budgie comments on Jul 19, 2020:
The NT borders opened and there was a flood of people across them. I am now concerned saw a Vic number plate. People are now coming in on planes yes I know some have to quarantine themselves but we were doing so well and then Vic and NSW messed up and now we are all at risk because of it. We had managed to open up and with some stimulus packages from the NT government people were going out and doing things. We even had a eat out program during the worst of it (at least one night a week order take away from a place offering it) our local fish and chip/hamburger take away was rushed off their feet and now everything is close to back to normal have shut down for a week to rest up and have a break. I worry that we are going to get people who break the rules. One person in a remote community who sneaks in and has the virus can kill pretty much the entire community, most of our remote communities have people with multiple medical conditions who do not like going to the Dr.

I am going to visit a friend in hospital and I am going to have to wear a mask, write down my name and address and have my temperature taken, I will also be observed using sanitizer on my hands. Two of us can visit at any one time (he is in a private room) but can only stay for about an hour then we will be kicked out. We can not go anywhere else in the hospital straight to his room and straight out when you leave. Am I carrying on no I will do it so my friend can have someone visit him in hospital.
What is the best pair of shoes you have ever owned?
Budgie comments on Jul 14, 2020:
I hate buying shoes (I hate wearing them) but a friend took me shoe shopping and I bought a really comfortable pair of croc thongs that I wore to death, some sketcher shoes that do not give me blisters. But my all time fav was when living on an island off the coast of Australia. Target would send over catalogues and we could order from them. They had some boots but I did not know what size to get so we traced around my feet and sent that to the shop with the order. The boots fitted and were comfortable. Great buy.

Budgie comments on Jul 14, 2020:
I had to have many knee operations I was given pethidine, did not really get rid of the pain (dulled it some) and then I had to have medication to prevent me vomiting everywhere as I felt so nauseous. Had to have wisdom teeth removed under a general. Told them what pethidine was like for me and so they prescribed morphine. Was like the first sip of a good scotch, this warm feeling went through my body, I disconnected from everything, seriously they asked me to roll over to my side and all I could do was move my shoulders, I giggled at everything. I am allergic to pethidine but boy does my brain like morphine. I have had to have it since and am always very careful about how much I use (self administered drip) I would rather tolerate some pain than deal with an addiction.

I love being able to have reasonable conversations with like minded people (godless skeptics), but ...

My friends know I am atheist, or if they don't they are just not paying attention. I had a great friend who believed sort of in god we did so many things together and joked about my lack of faith a lot. He became my personal "god" many because I would say things like good god and oh my god so he would reply, "yes." when I did. Another friend is a pagan in a poly relationship I was at the birth of two of her children. We get drunk and have roaring conversations about a range of things. I have some devout catholics (church every sunday etc) I find around them I am more careful of what I say and don't comment if a touchy topic comes up but we all tend to be fairly civilized. I am going around for lunch on the weekend and know there will be a prayer said before we eat so I sit quietly while it happens. If they come to my place they know there won't be and never ask to. I have noticed her quietly lower her head and seen her lips move before she eats. Here there are groups I would never join as their views on some things are completely different to mine and the way the groups are worded makes me believe they are not interested in discussion to the contrary of their views. But hey that is their choice plenty of groups to join that are like me.

Great photos, I love picturesque towns and the UK has a lot of them.
