CRYING! What has made you cry as an adult?
BufftonBeotch comments on May 8, 2018:
The slaughter of those babies in their classroom at Sandy Hook elementary. I kept it together at work, but came home sat down on the couch. My friend's dog jumped up and nestled her head under my arm and licked my face. I took her in my arms and just cried like I hadn't in ages. I also raged and screamed. Seeing the pictures of those precious faces still can make me misty eyed. They should be middle school students by now.

What movie/book do you all think deserves a Netflix series?

Hello all, I just joined up.
BufftonBeotch comments on May 7, 2018:
It is good to be able to know that we are out there. We are here in all walks of life. Rural and Urban. This is a place of comfort. On edit - I am even acquainted with a young man FB in Pakistan who was talking about wobbling between Atheism and Agnostic. . Being too outspoken about such things can get you killed there. He was studying to be a teacher of American Literature and probably has read more than I have of it. Many modern works. There weren't many I mentioned that he wasn't familiar with. He graduated and did get a teaching job in, I want to say France, but I'm not positive about that. I was very relieved when he left Pakistan. It is difficult enough being an Atheist when the toughest thing is finding a social group you feel you can be yourself in. We are not in fear for our lives. I really admired his courage.

All the pipes. All the pipes. Every last pipe under every street and yard. And nearly every pipe in every tenement and dwelling will need to be replaced. That takes money. Lots of money. Excess money in the budget goes to $$$ to the .0001$% That's how this country works. We are their serfs.

Their Eyes Were Watching God You think the Old Yeller rabid scene is disturbing? To Kill A Mockingbird is almost perfect. Mark Twain deftly stuck a sword in racism with the words of an ignorant boy in Huck Finn. I love Midnight In the Garden of Good and Evil because the author captured the spirit of a place I love so well. The Great Gatsby American Love of Betrayal and Lies. The Stand - Stephen King.

Do u think Christianity is bad ? What's your opinion on it
BufftonBeotch comments on May 5, 2018:
It is bad. It depends on the specific sect how bad, or how they are bad. Snake handlers are obviously dangerous and bad. Catholics have notoriously warped attitudes on sex and turned blind eye to children being sexually abused or even in the worst cases, accused the children of tempting the priests. With their insane attitudes toward any birth control added to their conversion efforts in many poor countries, they add to the economic burden and all the while picking the pockets of those poorest among us. Mother Teresa, used the children of Calcutta as a huge fund raising effort for years. It was a scam. All donations went to the Vatican. Any sick child entering was not given medical care and was placed on a at on the floor to die. She saw suffering as a blessing to bring them to g-d. Until she got the Big C of course. Then she wanted the best medical care and pain meds. African baptist? Entertaining but so loooonnnngggg. Good food though. You get the drift. Others can add.
How many people find it difficult to ask for help?
BufftonBeotch comments on May 5, 2018:
Depends. And I thought "juicer" as some sort of slang for an old car at first, so I had to re-start. There is a website in the States now called Nextdoor.com and it is a place where people can connect. Lots of posts about lost pets and help with other things or just advice. When I left m dome light on overnight and my battery couldn't, it was much easier to ask there then knocking on doors and knowing you were interrupting. I had a jump in 15 minutes or less.
Jabberwocky noun, plural Jab·ber·wock·ies.
BufftonBeotch comments on May 5, 2018:
The pure joy of make believe and nonsense and little children slaying monsters. Lewis got it right. Jabberwocky BY LEWIS CARROLL ’Twas brillig, and the slithy toves Did gyre and gimble in the wabe: All mimsy were the borogoves, And the mome raths outgrabe. “Beware the Jabberwock, my son! The jaws that bite, the claws that catch! Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun The frumious Bandersnatch!” He took his vorpal sword in hand; Long time the manxome foe he sought— So rested he by the Tumtum tree And stood awhile in thought. And, as in uffish thought he stood, The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame, Came whiffling through the tulgey wood, And burbled as it came! One, two! One, two! And through and through The vorpal blade went snicker-snack! He left it dead, and with its head He went galumphing back. “And hast thou slain the Jabberwock? Come to my arms, my beamish boy! O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!” He chortled in his joy. ’Twas brillig, and the slithy toves Did gyre and gimble in the wabe: All mimsy were the borogoves, And the mome raths outgrabe. Must see in DC?
BufftonBeotch comments on May 3, 2018:
Are you going to be there after dark at all? If so a drive around view of all the buildings and monuments is a must. With only a day I would do the Lincoln memorial. There s no way to convey through images the impact it was to stand in front of him. On that theme, maybe the Ford Theater and the Petersen house, across the street, where he died If you have time, I would try to do museum or museums. The Civil rights museum would be great, but I'm not sure if there is still a waiting list for that. I want to see this one below the next time I visit. But the established Smithsonian museums are all great too http://www.newseum.org/

Money root of all evil? True or false?
BufftonBeotch comments on Apr 29, 2018:

BufftonBeotch comments on Apr 27, 2018:
The flat-earther stuff is stupid but basically harmless. Alex Jones insistence that Sandy Hook and other mass shootings were faked is about as vile as you can get and still be classified as marginally human. Some of those parents grieving those babies have received death threats. Let me guess. He denies the Holocaust too.

Your thoughts on loud music in a restaurant?
BufftonBeotch comments on Apr 27, 2018:
Only after somewhere around 8 pm and even then only if it is a place that has a bar and even then live entertainment is preferable more engaging. (And also, they take breaks.) Posted on another topic that there are chain burger restaurants and all the franchises around here are owned by the same guy who has really loud christian music and hate sermons in the dining area at the volume that makes conversation difficult. I refuse to enter them, or even support that crap by going through the drive through.

Yes. Just a noise delivery system on many of them. Agree that Deadpool was very fun, but as noted it was a different type of movie. Also, movies like Fast/Furious. I just look at it that they are big profit makers for the studios, especially in the foreign markets and that they allow the smaller dramas and comedies which I do enjoy to be made.

Is that the one with the werewolf not a werewolf? That one meshes with The Gunslinger world, I think. The Gunslinger stuff is alright. It is just somewhat complex especially if you were to dive into the center. Many of King's works are interconnected. He drops more Easter Eggs than a certain Lepus. His book with an adult Danny Torrence (The Shining) as the protagonist is my favorite King novel in recent years. The title is "Doctor Sleep." And if you fancy yourself pen in hand, "On Writing" cannot be bested.

BufftonBeotch comments on Apr 23, 2018:
Most fundamentalist parents are very opposed to stories like Harry Potter. I'm going to take a while to get back to that point. My son had a difficult time with reading at first, which frustrated him, because he knew he was missing out on some really great stuff. He was still smart for his age, he loved to take things apart and put them back together from about the age of four or so. The reading thing just wasn't clicking for him. This was about 20+ years ago, and I don't know about now, but they were not teaching phonics then. Just endlss lists of memorized words. I found something very similar to the Hooked on Phonics progam for him, but not nearly that costly. Within a couple weeks he went from Sonic the Hedgehog comic books to yep....those 800 page Harry Potter books. Bless JK Rowling and all of those fanciful characters and rollicking romps. She made not just my son, but an entire generation of children eager to read some intimidatingly thick books.

BufftonBeotch comments on Apr 19, 2018:
Not to my face since middle-school for the most part. I've been a near lifelong activist for Progressive causes, so there have been a few verbal arrows from time to time from those with few debaring skills...or facts. Most women get called really horrible things every damned day on social media. But that's not to the face.
Cursive is quickly dying, like shorthand. Are you okay with that?
BufftonBeotch comments on Apr 19, 2018:
I read faxes off the computer screen and enter the data. The majority of which are hand-written. I would be happy if people would just print legibly. Sometimes it takes several attempts to decipher a name or account number. The ability to read cursive, for older texts might be a profitable skill in the future though.
