Anybody's pool is going to be fairly small. Just like employment, you don't want any job and don't expect to be hired for jobs if you lack the skills or aptitude. I think less even than 1 in 50 women would be a good match for me, which means there are still hundreds in a small metro area. I do most of the cooking and want an egalitarian partner. Regular church goers are right out, so are Trump sympathizers, though years back I had a Lutheran minister answer my personal ad, we really hit it off but also totally agreed that I was a little too Bohemian to take home to meet the congregation.

Buttercup comments on Jul 2, 2019:
So do women, we are all only here because of an unbroken line of those who reproduced. The power claim is wrong on its face. Every human has two parents, the books have to balance. Women may reproduce more reliably as individuals but men make up for it by having a different ratio of successes.

A neighborhood lady called me a few years ago, very alarmed that she couldn't close the door to her house, and afraid that the foundation had settled and her house needed major work. A routine diagnosis, years of kids slamming the door had cracked the jamb and thrown it out of true, I jacked it back into place and nailed it to; a sturdy but unsightly repair. We agreed we'd fix it right when she could afford it. I gave her the dimensions and told her about a mill-work place that gave good deals on returns since I knew she was on SSI and had a part time job at a convenience to make ends meet. She asked me for a bill and I just asked her to buy some flower bulbs from my daughter's class for her school fundraiser. Never did replace the door and maybe it's still there. A couple of years passed and and I got a call from her daughter, she'd died, asking me to stop by and pay my respects. When I got there I only recognized one person, the daughter, and started to explain who I was. One of the sons held up his hand stopped me and said, we all know who you are, you're the guy that was so good to our Mom. Surprising what you can get for fifteen minutes of your time.

Is our universe flat or curved ?
Buttercup comments on Apr 24, 2019:
It was Reimann (sp?) who threw out the Euclidian axiom that parallel lines can never meet and set the stage for Einstein's fourth dimension. In idealized math we frequently ignore circumstances that don't affect the matter at hand. When you draw a square on a piece of paper it is counterproductive to account for the thickness of the ink or the inconsistencies of the paper even though we know they exist and when we scale another dimension to form a cube we still ignore it. So it is always curved but until and unless we need to account for the curvature treating it as flat gives the best result. (There is also the issue of whether curved space is flat in dimensions higher than four which opens a new can of worms)

This seems more of a dating problem than a poly issue, it's hard to meet one right person so even harder to meet two. If this guy wanted a monogamous relationship would it change how you felt about him? Give yourself a chance, there isn't ever one right way to do things. One huge advantage of being open to alternative relationships, is you have time to consider what you want without a cloud of sexually urgent desire affecting your choices. He may be moving too fast for you right now but that is between you and him and negotiable.

My maternal grandfather was a suicide and a Catholic so it was hushed up. I outed him to almost all of my generation and the one after. One QUARTER of Americans (25%)have not had sex in past year.
Buttercup comments on Apr 6, 2019:
I've got a fun wife and we make sex a high priority. If something happened to her, it would take a while to get back in. I lost a love to a drunk driver in my twenties and except for a couple of drunken one times I was celibate for three years. Sex is cool but there's a lot more to it than a fuck/not fuck binary.
