I think it has something to do with the old adage that men are not supposed to show emotion. It's not very manly to cry, show that our feelings are hurt, or that we may be depressed. Society gets down on men for showing any emotion except for anger. Anger is a manly emotion, it shows strength and the desire to fight. I guess, I disagree though. It's OK for a woman to cry, it's OK for a woman to show hurt feelings, it's OK for a woman to show any emotion, but it's not OK for a man. Bottling up your emotions is not good and they usually explode in a violent eruption. Men are human too, we have emotions just like everyone else. Men should be allowed to show these emotions without ridicule. The manly man image needs to go, it no longer serves a purpose anymore.

I don't think Regan wanted Gorbachev to tear down the wall, just so we could use the pieces to build...

While the Berlin Wall separated a city, this proposed Wall would be on an international border. Dividing East and West Berlin was the only way the Soviet Union could keep people in the city and outside influence out. The border wall won't work in the long run for the exact same reason why the Berlin Wall didn't work. People will adapt to the wall and find new ways around it. Besides, aircraft fly over the Mexico/American border every day. It really wouldn't be that hard to fly over, pick up people and fly back. Also, a good portion of the border is a river. One could just swim across at night. While I think people should enter the country legally, this wall and current policy/practices are not the answer. I think we need to figure out why these people want to come to the United States so badly and work to correct that. However, a major problem is that most Central American countries are quite corrupt and probably wouldn't allow us to help them with their problems. There is an answer to this issue, we just need to find it.

A very interesting article. We do glorify war way too much and this blind sense of patriotism doesn't help the situation. We are stuck in that post World War 2 mentality in that we think we are the absolute best in the world. We're not and we haven't been for a long time. If people truly want to make America great again we would be acknowledging our faults and short comings and working together to fix them. We have the potential, but the desire just isn't there. It's more important to be greedy and take and take and take. We are the only industrialized nation that does not offer universal health care. We are the only industrialized nation that does not offer paid maternity leave. We don't even offer tuition free post secondary education. I guess being rich is more important. Besides, they have all the money, they don't have to worry about a thing.

Both of my parents know I am an atheist, I don't hide my opinions. My Mom is more accepting of it than my Dad. My dad still asks me if I want to go to church with him but I politely refuse. I cannot sit in church without feeling like an individual amongst a group of mindless drones. I just can't do it.

I was putting things on a CD for my Dad one day. I know he's not tech savvy, but I almost lost it when he kept asking me, "When do you pause the recording?" I didn't want to hurt his feelings by laughing in his face, but it took all I had not to do so. Like I said, he's not very tech savvy.

I would have to say for me it would be getting my finances in order and under control and a whole lot less stress. I tried very hard to try and have us work together on the finances and work towards making a budget but was always told that I had no idea what I was doing and that she had everything all laid out in her head. When things would go bad, as they usually did, I would get blamed for it. I was the only one working at the time too. Her daughter wouldn't do anything around the house and my ex would bitch that she had to do everything herself. I would help out here and there but then get told I didn't do it right. It was such a relief to move out and get my own place and just take care of myself. Everything fell into place once I started doing the things I wanted to do financially. It feels so great to not be told that I do everything wrong. I'm so glad I'm not in that situation anymore.
