I would have to say that accepting the fact that we are all human irregardless of the color of our skin, our country of origin, gender, religion (or lack thereof). How we treat each other because of our differences is appalling. We have so much potential but we hold ourselves back because we fail to accept our own differences. Whites and people of color, men and women, Christian and Muslim, rich and poor, we are all against ourselves and for what purpose? Where have we gotten by being against each other? We obviously haven't learned the lessons of the past and continue to make the same mistakes over and over again. We could do so much if we could just accept each other for who we are and quit harping about or differences and instead embrace them. We have a long way to go.

Oh yes. My take on it is that these phrases have been integrated into the vernacular and, therefore, have lost most of their religious meaning. I don't use them for religious purposes, but more to express frustration or simply out of habit. I don't they have any religious meaning anymore.

I couldn't agree with you more. Unions made this country and would make this country so much better if they were given the chance. Unions are so much more respected in Europe and have greater strength and European countries are doing just fine. My question is, why does a CEO deserve to make tens to hundreds of millions of dollars a year? If it weren't for unions, wages would not be where they are today. Without unions things will only get worse. We are on our way to a new form of serfdom. Unions aren't the problem with this country, it's corporate greed.
