I've recently moved in with a really great guy that I met here, but I still enjoy talking with all kinds of people. & somehow I became a host of a sewing group here even though my sewing skills are very rudimentary & undisciplined.

I like plants, animals, chocolate, science & humor.

No need to starve--just poke a tiny hole in the lid to get rid of the vacuum holding it on. You can put a little tape over the hole if you aren't going to use it all up. I find that my pride is well worth a bit of tape. Did anyone mention whacking the bottom of the jar with the heel of your hand as hard as you can? That will often jolt things loose.

Carin comments on Mar 6, 2019:
Only if you plan to die at 50... Seriously, 30 might be the worst--you still feel young so it's harder to accept those big numbers. As you get older it's less of a big deal. Though I'll be 60 in 3 years, ugh--that feels like practically dead! Where do the years go once you get older? Childhood seemed to last FOREVER, time seemed barely to move. I can't remember now when it sped up--after 20 for sure... How fast do years seem to be going by for you?

Climate Change
Carin comments on Mar 4, 2019:
Even catastrophic storms & disasters haven't jolted us out of our apathy. 2 summers ago the California drought brought the worst wildfire season ever--5,000 buildings burned & over 40 people died in the CA county where I lived.... & I'm really not doing anything differently now... I've always recycled & avoided wasting electricity & all that, but there were still a lot of things more that I could have done, like get rid of my minivan & get a Smart Car or something, stop taking 30 minute hot showers, & let the house be cooler in winter--but I didn't do any of those things & I still haven't. What's wrong with me? Why am I apathetic just like most everyone else?

Carin comments on Feb 27, 2019:
Do you really want to talk to a bunch of strangers? You shouldn't feel bad about yourself if you are less social or more private than some other people. For myself, I've found that the less I care what people think of me, & in fact the less I hope that they like me, the easier it is to talk to them. I think just getting older helps with that part. If social anxiety is making you unhappy, there's nothing wrong with talking to a counselor. If it's stopping you from enjoying events like the one today, that's a good enough reason to ask for help. You seem like a nice person who deserves to feel at ease.
