This post brought to mind some kids that I babysat when I was a teen. Their dad was a local pastor. I accidentally said "Oh my god!" about something & these kids' mouths literally dropped open, like in a cartoon. I knew at that moment that I would not be asked to watch these kids again... On the other hand, later in the evening the kids were talking about a girl at school that they were mean to. I asked them why they did these very mean things to this girl & they said "Because she's ugly." (My mouth may have dropped open at that point!) I talked to the kids about this for a while & could not get them to see why this was not OK. Finally I said that if their parents knew they were mean to someone at school, they would not approve--& the kids said their parents knew all about it & didn't tell them to stop. Weird, huh?

This pretty much sums up everything.

I'm sorry, Julius. Sometimes this time of year makes it even worse--not only the holidays but the lack of sunlight. Taking my dog for a long walk helps me, although sometimes it's hard to get motivated to get going. I hope you feel a bit better soon. Do try going outside for a nice walk.

It was someone here that I spent a couple hours talking to. It seemed like they were going through a really really rough time. I suppose we talked over the course of several days & then one day they stopped talking. I was quite worried about them as they stopped posting at around that time too. Since it wasn't at all romantic or even really a friendship, I wasn't all that hurt--just concerned. Some months later they started posting here again but ignored me. At that point I felt slightly used as I'd spent a LOT of time encouraging this person & sympathizing with them, but all in all it wasn't that big a deal & I was glad that they seemed to be in a much happier place in life. I don't remember stopping talking to anyone without telling them first, so I don't think I've ghosted anyone if I understand the term correctly.
