Oh yes--it appears than anywhere is better than Missippi.
I want to explore a touchy topic.
Carin comments on Dec 4, 2018:
Many male mammals are more aggressive & violent than female ones. Still, it's no excuse. We are all expected to control our animal urges. I also agree with all the others posting here talking about patriarchy, entitlement, societal expectations, role models & childhood training to name only a few.
Climate changes in your area.
Carin comments on Dec 4, 2018:
The changes in CA have been anything but fun--the fires are killing a lot of people.
No Relationship is Ever a Waste of Your Time.
Carin comments on Dec 4, 2018:
No, I disagree--people can waste years of your life; if you're female they could be your fertile years. They waste time you could have spent being happy with a good person.

Carin comments on Nov 29, 2018:
Even if they want to it can be very difficult if not impossible.
Is this a common occurance?
Carin comments on Nov 29, 2018:
Oh how awful! Why would someone be so malicious? What can they gain? You must feel very hurt. So sorry.
I still struggle.
Carin comments on Nov 29, 2018:
I gave up on trying to love myself & am focusing on the last sentence. I still feel a lot better.

" Let the dick drive " The men here can get offended .
Carin comments on Nov 27, 2018:
I'm female but found it too sexist &/or unoriginal to even sit through it to the part where men are supposed to get offended.
Ever have that problem?
Carin comments on Nov 27, 2018:
Oh I know!
Do you think unhealthy families are more numerous today?
Carin comments on Nov 27, 2018:
Yes, we just hear more about it. People used to be very averse to "airing the family's dirty laundry" by exposing any sorts of abuse, marital infidelity or other problems. Also, many sorts of abuse were not considered abuse in previous eras--wife beating was a acceptable way to maintain the family hierarchy & children were believed to benefit from whippings.
Hi.
Carin comments on Nov 27, 2018:
Hi & welcome! Interesting punctuation there. I'm always the one looking for the cookies & punch the minute I arrive at a party too! People laugh at me.
How do you tell children about death?
Carin comments on Nov 27, 2018:
I had a terrible time with my daughter! She would be sitting there playing with her toys, around age 3 or 4, then suddenly stop playing & wail "I don't want to die!" It was so awful--I felt utterly helpless as I don't want to either! I tried a few approaches--telling her about different ideas that people have about death & what, if anything, happens next. & I tried to make it sound like a normal part of life that is supposed to happen with every living thing, so it must be right. I was kind of going for a sense of completion...trying to be somewhat positive. I would point out a dead animal or insect & say "It was all done being a butterfly" or whatever it was. But I would also say that the squirrel or possum wasn't being careful crossing the road & didn't get to finish living... The eventual outcome (like after 2 very distressing years) was, I think, that between hearing about the idea of reincarnation as one option & my choice of words regarding bugs being "all done being bugs" was that she decided she would be reincarnated as some sort of animal. One kind of funny story--we were crossing the street & I said we needed to be careful not to be run over, & she rather too enthusiastically said "And then I can be a lion!!" Rather taken aback, I said that we were vegetarian & she'd have to eat dead animals if she were a lion. Her reply: "But I would have a lion mouth!" I guess I bumbled my way through--she's not locked away in a mental institution some where. She seems happy, capable & self confident, & she hiked the Appalachian Trail by herself in one season when she was 20.
This is a question for both sexes.
Carin comments on Nov 27, 2018:
I'm proud to say I've never cheated on anyone. When I was very young, I overlooked cheating with one guy but have never put up with it since. People who do that have no morals & can never be trusted with anything, in my opinion & experience. I am no longer with my husband since finding out he cheated.

Does age really matter in a relationship?
Carin comments on Nov 26, 2018:
The older you get, the less it seems to matter. I could not have imagined dating a guy 10 years younger than me when I was in my 20s (legal considerations aside) but there's not that much difference between people in their 40s & 50s--I think we've pretty much matured as much as we ever will by our 40s. My current guy is 11 years younger & I barely think about our age difference. We have so much in common!

Carin comments on Nov 26, 2018:
Why do you find it awful making friends as an adult? I suppose I have nothing to compare to--my family moved so often when I was a kid that the only friends I have are the ones I made as an adult. Seems like childhood friends can easily grow apart. I saw that happen with my daughter & her friends. No hard feelings but no common interests to keep them together.

It's great to learn something new. I went through a phase some months ago where I was in terror during lucid dreaming, but nothing seemed to be happening to cause it...not sure how to tell if it was this, but it was unlike anything I'd experienced before. The terror was very extreme & I couldn't control it. After a short while I'd wake up from it, so I just had to wait. It happened quite a few different nights & then, thankfully, stopped.

Some people are just born into a lucky life while others aren’t? True or false?
Carin comments on Nov 25, 2018:
If you call it luck that all of us conversing here can read & write, can afford a computer or phone to access this site, & have electricity to power our electronics, then I do believe we were born lucky--most all of those things are due only to our good fortune to have been born to parents who lived in industrialized nations, & very little due to any exceptional efforts on our part. Other ways most of us were born into luck: your mother had access to prenatal care & nutritious food before you were born. You did not inherit any harmful genes or incur any disabilities. Your parents then saw to it that your medical, dental, educational, & nutritional needs were taken care of long before you were even aware of it.

Carin comments on Nov 25, 2018:
It's true that the average man makes more money than the average woman, & there are some indications that it's actually more expensive to be female than male... But I think principles are important & I consider myself a feminist, so I like to pay my own way. I also don't want to incur any obligations (perceived or real) with someone I don't really know. Also, it's not the guy's fault that he makes more money than I do.
