Fox News trolls Jamie Lee Curtis. Internet fights back with logic. [uproxx.com]

Fox news is ridiculous. Just ignore them like any intelligent person would. I really doubt Jamie Lee Curtis is worried about them or the opinions of people who watch nonsense like that.
Does anyone ever get to watching back cracking videos and wish that was you on the table?
Carin comments on Oct 24, 2018:
I didn't know such videos existed. I always feel like chiropractors are going to tear my head right off, so I would not wish to be the one on the table! It makes me very uneasy. I like Osteopaths better--the tend to be more gentle. Yes about forgetting to make appointments--I've been meaning to go to the dermatologist for about 6 months!

I agree--it's OK to explore having a different kind of relationship than you were thinking you wanted. If you insist on every detail of your "perfect relationship with the perfect person" you might be too rigid, & you also may end up staying single. Look at each situation & each person with an open mind, or you might pass by something wonderful.
What are three things on your bucket list?
Carin comments on Oct 24, 2018:
For some reason I really dislike the term "bucket list." My 3 things would be: finally have a healthy, loving relationship, buy some land & move on to it, & have a big herd of goats.
Dating more than one person
Carin comments on Oct 24, 2018:
I tried it once a long time ago & it just felt awkward, even though neither were committed relationships. I assume it's not cheating if both relationships are casual, but I just didn't like how it felt.
Brown shoes with a blue suit?
Carin comments on Oct 24, 2018:
That is very interesting! I don't know much about men's fashion. Since brown is the natural color of leather, I saw brown shoes as neutral, like a brown leather belt...that they could go with any color clothing. Does your rule also apply to women's outfits? Are men supposed to wear shoes that match their suits then?
I don't know if this happens to others.

Do you believe it's unethical to eat meat?
Carin comments on Oct 23, 2018:
I do think it's generally unethical to eat meat, or even some other animal products. I'm vegetarian & feel guilty for not being vegan. On the other hand, the rest of the family just finished butchering a fresh road killed deer tonight & if I liked venison I'd probably partake. It was already dead anyway. Everyone's heard the arguments for not consuming meat or meat & animal products. Corporate farming is unavoidable cruel, animal agriculture is harmful to the environment in so many ways, it's harmful to human health, it raises health care costs, & a few other things too. I don't think there's much you can argue with there without straying from rational thought, so I won't really go into it. If someone got sick while eating a normal vegetarian or vegan diet I wouldn't even think it was linked to their diet, but I see people all around me with high cholesterol, heart disease & other VERY serious ailments to which animal products are clearly & scientifically linked. Study after study shows vegetarians & vegans are healthier, thinner & longer lived than people who eat an average diet. Other species of animals do kill each other to survive, often in horrible ways. But we have distanced ourselves so far from the rest of the animal kingdom that I don't think we can justify cherry picking when we can act like them & when we don't want to. If you don't want to be eaten, then don't eat anyone else. Also, a shark, bat or tiger has no choice on what it can eat, but we do. If we are claiming to be "better" than all the other species, oughtn't we act like it? Sorry so long-- I've collected these thoughts over 35 or so years. I don't usually bring up the fact that I'm a vegetarian, but often when people find out they want to argue about it--they actually pick a fight when I've said nothing about what they eat. It's rude & annoying so I fall for it & argue back. Their points are all based on their personal opinions & feelings with no valid scientific basis or rational thinking. I wonder why they are so defensive?
Would you pay someone to date you?
Carin comments on Oct 23, 2018:
I sincerely think you are a lot more attractive than you believe! Self esteem issues perhaps? I was just thinking, it's not entirely unheard of in the US to have paid companions. I've been hired more than once as a companion to an elderly or very disabled person. I would also do a little tidying & make us lunch, but having someone to talk to & give them attention was very much needed by these people. I just haven't heard of young or able bodied people hiring someone to do this--although many of my housekeeping clients end up paying me for talking too! It sounds like you don't even really want to "date" your hypothetical paid companion--you just want to hang out. If you pay someone for that it's nobody's business & I think you should try it. Maybe even tell them that you want to work on social skills & ask for a little gentle feed back. Good luck with whatever you decide to do!
This could go for either gender. :) Just a great one liner, had to share

Carin comments on Oct 22, 2018:
Don't you think we are all afraid to die once we are mature enough to grasp the concept of loss & nothingness? Have you never been afraid of death? If not, how did you get past that fear to the healthy place you're in now? I think one of the appeals of religion is eternal life, or afterlife.

Carin comments on Oct 21, 2018:
I suppose it's a waste of time because it doesn't change whether they actually exist or not. It's also usually a waste of time because neither of you are likely to change the other's mind. I don't, however, think it's a waste of time to protest someone else trying to impose their religious views or rules on me or other people who don't share their beliefs.

I do agree! I remember when I was in second grade, lying in my bed & imagining a sort of step ladder, with men on top, women on the second rung, kids on the third, with dogs, cats & horses sharing the forth, on down past other species ranked according to how humans view them. I wasn't very aware of racial differences at that time, but it's easy to see how race is also fitted into that hierarchy. But to me at that time the main realization was that they were all simply life forms & the only thing that placed them on their assigned rungs was the opinions of the human life forms on top of them.

Pakistan has so many amazing goat breeds! Sadly, it's illegal to import them to the US, or even frozen semen. The reason for their bounty of amazing & exotic breeds is that they raise them to compete & then be sacrificed for the holiday called Eid. Most families also buy a goat to sacrifice. The goats must be very beautiful & perfect looking for the best sacrifice. The meat is all eaten afterwards (so how is that a sacrifice?) & some is given to the poor. You can see more amazing goats on the Facebook page Goat Breeds of Pakistan.

Do you believe that racism and hatred is taught in childhood?
Carin comments on Oct 19, 2018:
You know what's weird? Chickens will gang up on a chicken that looks different from them. Weird but true. Sometimes they will kill it. I hope there is not something like that in us humans. It's so hard to know, isn't it, when kids are getting subtle (or not so subtle) racist messages from books, videos etc. from the very beginning? I started counting the numbers of female & non-white characters in my kids' books & videos when they were toddlers & even in the ones that seemed to have made a effort to be inclusive, the numbers did not reflect the true demographics here in the US. Mostly white & male. & sadly, in the past few years we are really seeing parents openly teaching their kids very racist & hateful ideas & behaviors.
