No problem with weddings & funerals, as you're there mainly because you care about the people involved. I don't see it as an endorsement of their religion, really. I would think most Jewish people would attend a friend's christian church wedding, & visa-versa. My husband begged me to go to his parents' very conservative church for Xmas & I was pretty uncomfortable about that. His dad was also singing in the choir & I didn't want to hurt that sweet old guy's feelings. There were no negative repercussions that I'm aware of. I won't go to regular Sunday worship though, or the Wednesday one either. Sometimes I feel that people's feelings are more important than my beliefs--What do you guys think?

I used to think it indicated a stronger sense of commitment to each other. Living together you can choose whether to work hard at resolving problems, otherwise it's a lot easier to leave than a marriage is. Now I'm not so sure. Being old fashioned though, I do think it's better if you have kids.

I yelled to my husband before he stepped on a groggy rattlesnake trying to warm itself in the middle of a trail one chilly morning. He had long legs & always left me behind even though I hated it. Being the A-hole that he is, he ignored me at first when I just yelled his name--I was so panicked I couldn't come up with the word "snake" even. Finally I got him to at least turn around & see what I was hollering about. He was probably 3 feet from the snake by then. That pause gave the snake enough time to rouse itself & crawl away, finally rattling. He was lucky we had just started the hike & he hadn't left me far enough behind that I wouldn't have seen that snake lying there looking like a stick. If I knew then what I know now, I would have kept my mouth shut anyway.

I love hugs from people I know but feel very uncomfortable when strangers want a hug right away. For you young folks, greeting people with hugs when you're strangers or acquaintances is a relatively new thing. Even friends did not hug each other the way they do now. Hugging was for family (including extended family) & romantic partners. At least where I cam from anyway. I'm slowly adjusting though....

Geographical distance helps me with that, but therapy helps to validate my experiences, as you said, & it also helps to have a normal person say "No, that is not normal behavior for a parent (or partner) & it's abuse." Because if that's all you ever knew, you have nothing to compare to & abuse seems normal.

If the original post came from somewhere else you may have the option to block that instead. Eventually you will get most of the sources blocked. It's worked quite well for me with my southern christian conservative cousins. I also managed to block most of their pro-Trump BS articles.

As long as the person saying those unkind things doesn't smoke, exercises daily, & has no bad habits....sure. But mainly it bothers me when people consider things like weight gain an indicator of poor character, & that they obviously consider themselves superior to anyone who is overweight. The person's remark was not only pointless & stupid, it was very unkind & to me that's worse.

If you wear an odd size it's even worse. I can't get a 34DDD for under $65--sixty five dollars for ONE bra! That's if the store even carries that size. Many don't. But if you look at them, they are pretty complicated garments that would be hard to sew. It would take more time to make one than it would a pair of jeans I bet.

I've given up on feeling better & just try to focus on being a good person by helping others to the extent that I can. I am still able to help some people & as far as I know have not made things worse for anyone.

For years all we heard on tv was use a condom and protect yourself from HIV/AIDS.

The ad also points out several times that you still need to use a condom, & get an HIV test before you start the drug & every 3 months thereafter. I don't know if HIV is on the rise again in general, but I believe there are some segments of society where it is. But the main thing is, it isn't gone & we need to prevent as many people from getting it as we can.
