This site sucks. Few if any active users are looking to meet other single agnostics or atheists.

Mississippi Supreme Court Overturns Voter Passed Medical Marijuana Initiative
ChestRockfield comments on May 15, 2021:
I'm fine with any marijuana legalization legislation being voted down or overturned if it doesn't carry a provision that prevents employers from testing for it. If it's not legal for everyone, then it seems unconstitutional to me. #thatiswhatisnotright
[google.com] Conservatives push to legalize Marijuana to ensure individual liberty. Whats the catch?
ChestRockfield comments on May 15, 2021:
Umm I would think the obvious reason is that Republicans don't want to go up against people who would vote for marijuana legalization in an election. Make it federally legal and keep the liberal stoners on the couch on election day... Me personally, I'm as liberal as you can get and I won't ever vote for a marijuana legalization bill that is a half-measure, that is to say, one that doesn't prohibit employers from testing their employees for the proposed legal substance. If it's going to be federally legal, it should be legal for everyone, not just people who have chill bosses.

Bill Maher's wisdom and humor might save us from this ignorant turn toward Cryptocurrency.
ChestRockfield comments on May 1, 2021:
I wish there was a way to tally all the electricity that is needed/used to support other currencies. Crypto doesn't need banks and vaults, tellers driving to work, cash registers, money counters, coin return machines, coin wrappers, bill wrappers, bureaus of people whose whole job in life is trying to prevent counterfeiting, companies who make counterfeit detecting devices, all the electricity used by people staying past close to count their money. The list is endless. I just started thinking of this today as a result of his video and while I think Bitcoin mining ends at some point in the next couple decades, the above uses of electricity it seems will stay the same (or probably grow). And crypto * does * do something pretty important, so unless governments regulate it to death, it'll probably always have value. There's no central bank or government to declare it no longer a currency, so there's no reason to think it will ever be worthless like many paper currencies have become. If you think about it, even US cash will devalue itself to practically nothing given enough time of inflation, so you kind of have to invest in something. Everything is a risk though. I don't blame people for betting on something that's finally not controlled by 'the man'. The arguments against it sound just like all the people that have been telling me for two decades I should sell all my Magic cards because they weren't going to be worth anything soon, and every year I didn't listen while they consistently outperformed the stock market. Is that investment any worse than the housing market that people manipulate and destroy? The stock market, a lot of which is bets on non-physical things, or futures, or whatever other shady stuff like micro trading that's being used to siphon off value? I guess bonds might be safer, unless the next insurrection is successful and actually topples the government? Nobody knows. Invest in what you know and diversify, that's the best you can do.

I don't understand that joke. The Navy has classically been teased about being the branch of the military with the most gays. So I decided to do a search, and it turns out it's for a reason. ChestRockfield comments on Apr 17, 2021:
So I often struggle with this. Lobster mac and cheese is another example. On one side you can say, "Of course you add lobster, that can only make the mac and cheese better" which is true, but the flip side of that coin is that you're also making your lobster worse by adding macaroni and cheese to it. I don't know that I'll ever know the right answer to that. Another thing I was pondering was the whole, 'You'll get sick of anything if you eat it enough' and if it was true for the most amazing things. I was considering eating a lobster tail every day for a month to see if I got sick of it because I really don't think I would. Being able to get sick of lobster with butter would be an important bit of info when it comes to deciding if you should do stuff like this or mac and cheese with it to 'keep things fresh' so to speak.

Well, there are several problems with it. 1. Getting flowers from someone is not about possession of flowers, it's about someone showing you affection. Saying you can just plant your own flowers so you don't need someone to bring you any is like saying you don't need a relationship because you can just masturbate. 2. If taken more literally, you may have to wait longer for flowers you plant yourself, and that's assuming you even have the ability to plant a garden. 3. Soul?

Women could get away with letting pretty much anything go and plenty of guys would still line up; especially if they did it as a group ( e.g. if most women stopped shaving, hairy women would be the norm and pretty much all that was available. Since most guys will fuck anything, nothing would change.) As for armpit hair specifically, that wouldn't bother me much at all. CosmicSkeptic Can You Answer These Tricky Moral Dilemmas? [youtube.com]
ChestRockfield comments on Mar 27, 2021:
1. He changes the question from "little cost to yourself" to "comparatively/significantly/considerably little cost to yourself". Those are quite different. 2. His explanation of the morality of veganism does leave plenty of loopholes for vegans to enjoy animal products in certain circumstances. If the act of consuming an animal product does not create demand that the harm of animals continues, then you are not causing harm you are simply allowing harm to exist (if even that). You can probably think of many scenarios on your own that would satisfy these conditions, but I'll provide just one that happened in real life. My mother got some meat from a Covid relief for seniors program. It is a random box of food items that you can't make requests for what content it contains. The meat she was given was offered to the person who delivered it to her and that person wasn't interested in it for themselves, nor were they capable of returning it to send to another participant. It was not something my mother and I would eat, so she planned to cook it so it didn't spoil in her garbage when she discarded it. If she offered some of this meat to a vegan as an alternative to it being thrown in the garbage, their consumption of it would in no way demand more suffering of animals. (Actually, it could reduce the demand for vegetables, the harvesting of which also sometimes kills wildlife, so it could technically reduce animal suffering by consuming these calories instead of wasting them.) I have thought of several other theoretical ways these conditions could be met as well. If this is his only personal reason for/argument for veganism, it's not a very strong one. 3. The utilitarian wouldn't see them as morally identical. If they would think it's morally good to harm 1 to help 10, then any factor larger than that would necessarily produce a greater net moral benefit. He understood the reverse of this when he said if it's bad to violate one it's worse to violate more. Not sure why he didn't see that if it's good to help 10, it's better to help 100,000.

ChestRockfield comments on Mar 25, 2021:
I mean, it would be very hard for me to know nothing was stolen except food. I have a lot of collectables, and it would be quite difficult to verify everything was still there. Also, the more food you have to rebuy, the less Magic cards you can buy with your leftover money, so it's basically like they stole Magic cards from me, and that makes me want to skin people alive. All that side though, my security measures mean they would probably be caught in the act and it wouldn't really be my choice after that.

ChestRockfield comments on Mar 3, 2021:
I half agree with that argument, but I think it's too simplistic. I feel that way about mint chocolate chip ice cream because it basically turns the chips into pieces of unflavored wax. However, there are varying flavors you'll get at different temperatures of beers and wines that are all subjective to each individual. I would instead recommend people * try * their beverages at recommended or manufacturer suggested temperatures to see how * they personally * like it the best. And when you find a person who recommends things the way you enjoy them most maybe ask them for more recommendations because you two have similar tastes. My mom likes her red wine with a slight chill. For most reds I disagree, but there is one Italian wine she gets that I do enjoy much more after a short stint in the fridge. Also, an ice cold beer while a blazing hot shower beats down on your neck and shoulders, regardless of how much the chill hides the flavor profile, is one of the most glorious fucking things ever. You're doing yourself a disservice not trying that.

The only good thing about dying this way instead of being shot by racist cops is that they can sue the hospital for failure to provide appropriate care whereas cops almost always get away with murder when the murder victim is black.

ChestRockfield comments on Feb 3, 2021:
The Republicans wouldn't even give up chairmanships without agreements because of the 50/50 split. If anything, this should tell people we need one more red seat to flip.

ChestRockfield comments on Feb 3, 2021:
