ChestRockfield replies on Oct 11, 2021:
Kind of surprised you included the "rare" part of the mantra. Either abortion is okay or it is not. If it's okay, why does it matter how often it's done? To claim it should be rare lends credence to the thought that the women are doing something bad or wrong. Unless you ONLY meant rare in the context that abortions can sometimes be dangerous for the mother, so prevention is key to reducing the potential complications that could arise from the [now] reduced number of needed abortions?

Why? Gentle gender? They've been driving the barbaric practice of circumcision of men for long time. They are responsible for 50% or more of so called domestic violence. They are in most cases responsible for their pregnancies.
ChestRockfield replies on Oct 11, 2021:
@FrayedBear Which you can be, from rape. Is that really the only thing you have to hang your argument on? You can't refute anything I've said? Rape exists. It has since the dawn of man, and there is no indication it will ever go away before life ceases to exist. So if you don't have an argument that's not easily and completely destroyed by the fact that rape exists, then you picked a really shitty, indefensible position.

ChestRockfield replies on Oct 11, 2021:
@FrayedBear Just because you say "most cases" doesn't change the fact that your claim of, "Total absolute unequivocal control of their bodies" is completely false. You can't have total control * except in the cases when you don't. * Would you drop your dog off at a kennel that said they would never rape your dog... * except for they days they do? * You are completely wrong about #3. Ectopic pregnancies can be life threatening and absolutely could require abortion. Anencephaly would also be a condition that wouldn't result in spontaneous abortion. Also, the frequency at which these things happen is completely irrelevant. * You * claimed that women have have "total absolute unequivocal control of their bodies," so if there is even one woman that doesn't, for any of the reasons I listed and any others I didn't, it disproves your misogynistic, hateful, nonsensical claims. And your attempt at equivocating a severe deformity of a fetus who's depending on and endangering the life of its host to a self-sufficient human who had an accident is probably the most asinine argument you've made in this thread so far. 5. So you're now claiming that stupid people aren't allowed to have control over their bodies? That wasn't a parameter you mentioned at the beginning. The fact of the matter is your argument is still self-defeating because if stupid women exist then there are women who could only have control by giving up control. We've agreed on a lot of stuff, and we've disagreed before, but honestly this is the worst argument you've ever made. I implore you to reevaluate.

@FrayedBear That may just be the most sexist and wrong statement of the year. 1. Rape 2. Accidents/ failed birth control 3. Deformities that prompt or even require abortion 4. Change of other circumstances that changes a wanted pregnancy to an unwanted pregnancy 5. Your argument is claiming women can have control over their bodies only by removing sexual control/choice over their bodies. Argument self-defeated.

@glennlab I thought you meant you had a way to * engage * with respect. I guess I'm just a little more, “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing,” and a little less, "Live and let live." I care a little more about showing respect and empathy to those that are the targets of hate, letting them know they have an ally in me than deference and silence to the hateful, thereby allowing the broadcast of their messages without objection. I also can't associate with those that harbor such arbitrary hate for the sake of friendship or family togetherness. I have disowned numerous family members for this reason. If they suffer no consequences from being hateful, what exactly prompts them to change?

So that's one of the questions I posed. Does the boycott last until death at which point the contribution can be enjoyed? What if there was trust set up that continued to be funded by royalties after death that carried on whatever behavior was the reason for the boycott? Would you have to continue the boycott? What if the heirs felt the same way as the boycotted person (e.g. they also donated to anti-gay/black etc. groups) the boycott would need to remain intact? What if we went in the reverse direction? Say there was a medical researcher that developed a medication that cured Type I Diabetes, but we found out he molested children. Would the rules for boycotting dictate that we refuse to cure our diabetes so he didn't get the proceeds? Or what if a boycotted person was donating a percentage of their profits to children's cancer care and research? Is there a non-100% percentage that would be sufficient cause to not boycott? If R. Kelly donated 99.5% of all the money he made to a good cause like that, then what? Should all those kids suffer to keep the half percent out of his pocket? You see why I'm struggling with this?

@KKGator 1. Only 60 some odd percent of women eligible to vote actually vote. Of those that vote, a large percentage vote republican. Women's autonomy is not and has never been codified in the United States. For women to be caring about and voting for anyone or anything before protecting their rights means they've become comfortable enough with the soft protections provided by case law to take them for granted. This does not seem to be a point up for intelligent debate. 2. Most of you?! When only about 30% of eligible women vote for the party that wants to protect their rights, and most of those votes get canceled out by other women, I don't think you have any evidence to support that claim. 3. I 100% agree with you. Religion is a huge problem. Those women apparently * want * to be subjugated, and * those * are the women I'm ultimately blaming. Well, them and the 30+% that don't vote at all. 4. 100% agree again. I even said before men, especially white, want to be assholes and subjugate others. People who are heartless fucking assholes like them aren't just going to roll over. You think someone like Mitch McConnell is ever going to have single thought about how to be a decent human being or be fair? Fuck no. He's going to be a disgusting wrinkly ball sack every fucking minute for the rest of his [hopefully] short life. These things are not variables though. We * know * they're going to fight dirty and try to keep everyone else down. We need to band together to stop it. @KKGator That's a double edged sword. I would gladly take 100% of the responsibility of getting pregnant if I could have 100% of the power whether or not to abort. But that's a nonsense tangent to distract you. We didn't choose how evolution made one sex carry offspring, and we didn't choose what sex to be, so stop worrying about it. Worry about what you can do something about. There is no one that wants abortion to be 100% legal all the time, everywhere, for everyone, for any reason more than me, so you're mad at the wrong person. And I do kind of blame women because you're letting yourselves be distracted from issues of human rights and autonomy. Every single woman in this country should vote straight democratic in every single race, every single election until their rights are codified. I already do, and it's not even my rights that are being taken away. 150 years ago, if there were black people that weren't using their 3/5ths of a vote to try to get themselves a whole vote, you wouldn't blame them??

@Redheadedgammy Except it's not * law. * That's why people, especially women, need to vote. Men (especially white men) are piles of shit that like to subjugate others. If you have the power to stop them, STOP THEM! I'll help. No one should be worrying about ANYTHING else until basic human rights and freedoms are protected, and the only party that's ever going to do that for you is the major opposition party to the Republicans, whatever it happens to be (right now the democrats).

@Julie808 What I was saying was basically that hating someone because they hold liberal policies that allow people autonomy over their own bodies and desires to ensure equality among all is completely unjustified whereas hating someone for voting for a party that wants to subjugate women and minorities makes logical sense. It's as stark as the difference between going to a rally to protect free speech and going to a Klan rally. There is no way to keep cruel views to yourself when you're empowering people to legislate cruel views. Even if they don't publicly espouse said beliefs, they are fine with them and support them with their vote.

@MizJ If they're a conservative but voting for the more liberal candidate, then they're not voting * as * a conservative. They're essentially either breaking ranks or a swing voter or an independent or whatever you want to call them. None of that matters to the topic at hand though. No matter what they call themselves, or what anyone else calls them, they * still * voted for someone who said he was going to try to take women's reproductive rights away and succeeded in that endeavor. That's not someone I can lay my head down next to no matter how much we'd love to talk about how adorable cats are. And I'm not blaming or shaming, there are a lot of people that are able to set those things aside for family members or lovers, I just don't happen to be one of them. Wish I could, honestly, maybe I wouldn't be so lonely, but I just can't. ChestRockfield replies on Sep 23, 2021:
@MizJ Conservative vs Republican is merely a semantical difference when you're taking about who you voted for because the Republican candidate is always the more conservative and the Democratic the more liberal of the two. I agree we are distracted by issues like abortion, but that's not the fault of the liberals or Democrats. They only ever talk about it because the policies of the Right * force * them to. If it were federally legal and codified (untouchable by Republicans OR conservatives) you'd never hear about it again from Democrats. As for socialism/communism, I believe the actual difference is the ownership of the means of production. Both have both political and financial implications.

ChestRockfield replies on Sep 23, 2021:
@MizJ They may personally * claim * to be pro-choice, but what you say and what you do are very different things. The fact of the matter is the last Republican presidential candidate campaigned on the fact that he would appoint conservative, pro-life judges to the court system, won, and kept his promise, which directly resulted in a veritable complete ban on abortion in the state of Texas. Anyone who voted Republican owns a piece of that. Period. The same is true of racist policies. If you vote for a party that enacts racist laws, lie all the vote-restricting laws that specifically target people of color, you don't get to claim you don't believe in that or that you're not racist because that's not * why * you voted Republican. * Oh, I don't support all the Jews getting gassed, I just really like Hitler's financial policies. * Sorry, doesn't work like that.

That sign doesn't even make sense. That moron thinks that quieting Dr. Fauci will somehow magically make Covid go away?
ChestRockfield replies on Sep 8, 2021:
And that tape is a mask...
Yeah, how do you do it? I'm sure there are different ways to get to the same result.
ChestRockfield comments on Sep 8, 2021:
I don't know what new math is. I've heard the term, but don't know the process. For me, I added 2 to the 28 and subtracted it from the 47, then added 30 & 45.
ChestRockfield replies on Sep 8, 2021:
@Ryo1 That seems backwards and confusing. What does 47=45 even mean? Also, why is the second number first?
Question: why are health care workers even showing anti-vaxxers compassion?
Paul4747 comments on Sep 6, 2021:
That's the nature of their work. When someone is sick or dying, you don't (I hope you don't) shake your head and say, "Well, you brought it on yourself, you know. This is all your fault." If that were the case, smokers with lung cancer, meat-eaters with colon cancer, overweight people with... ...
ChestRockfield replies on Sep 8, 2021:
@Paul4747 No, it's not. First, the slow nature of the healthcare problems associated with other vices allows systems to provide care to them without being overwhelmed. There's no sudden massive influx of lung cancer patients that are stressing the system to the breaking point. Second, those vices are not contagious. Third, we can debate whether or not addiction plays into the problems of obesity and smoking, but I'm pretty sure no one is addicted to willfully refusing a vaccine during a global pandemic. Finally, even if we agree that ingesting second-hand smoke is just as dangerous, it still wouldn't result in the issues detailed above. There's no sudden, exponential growth of people needing hospital beds because of second-hand smoke.

ChestRockfield comments on Sep 6, 2021:
They don't. But most of us don't have any control over the matter. That's why we come to places like this to vent and hope they all die before they make it to the doors of the hospital.
ChestRockfield replies on Sep 8, 2021:
@Paul4747 The OP was about healthcare workers showing compassion to anti-vaxxers. The 'we' in my reply was obviously referring to them, not a random group of individuals that happen to not believe in god. As for the second part, you have it all wrong. It has nothing to do with not wanting to treat them. It has to do with shortages of everything, staff, supplies, beds, equipment, etc. * because * of them that's causing harm to all of the other people that are doing their best to * help * us. If they want to take the side of the enemy and risk being one of the seriously ill, it would be nice if they actually assumed that risk on their own instead of burdening everyone else with that risk that didn't want to take it. And no where did I say we treat them any differently once they do arrive; that's not part of who most of us (<- HEALTHCARE WORKERS) are. * That's why I used the word "hope". Nothing more than that. *

@FrayedBear I don't know what you're trying to say with that.
