@TheMiddleWay Depends where they're standing... But that wasn't my point. It's just the fact that the Joint Chiefs felt they needed to write that letter reminding servicemen of their duty to the Constitution and that the FBI needed to vet them. This is fucked up shit that shouldn't be happening in a healthy democracy.

@Beowulfsfriend Oh, me too. Ignorance (nor brainwashing) of the law does not excuse. I think the potential sentences they are facing are a fucking joke. I literally thought if you were part of a domestic terror attack against the United States government in the commission of an attempted coup that you would get shot dead on sight, or, at minimum, face life or execution. I would have bet everything I owned in the world no one would have served less than a year for something like that, but it looks like a lot will.

@TheGreatShadow His most ardent supporters fly Nazi flags for cryin' out loud. He tells white supremacists to "stand back and stand by", never denounces them, wanted to execute young innocent black men, said people wearing swastikas and chanting "Jews will not replace us" were very fine people, and told people wearing camp Auschwitz hoodies and carrying Confederate flags during a domestic terror attack they were very special and that he loved them. Fuck, there's a portion of them that self-identify as Nazis. You don't need to mince words or hold your tongue; they're fucking Nazis. If every time you go to a rally, there are people on your side who identify as Nazis, you're probably a Nazi too. That's one of those things that should be so abhorrent that you do anything to distance yourself from it. "Oh, a ton of people who call themselves 'Nazis' support this candidate or policy? @redbai I did delete it because I don't need this in my life. I thought it was important, and then numerous people laughed at me for my request [demand] here. I think a couple of the claims you made are nonsense, but I was not so gently reminded that what you think, and what others think about what I think about what you think, are completely irrelevant in my life, and that generally, I'm a fool for caring about it so much. I'm going to make a concerted effort not to argue with people who aren't interested in constructive criticism. That's the difference between you and me. When I post things, I'm looking to test my beliefs for holes, inconsistencies, and inaccuracies. I * want * people to point out things I failed to notice and I want to amend my arguments to be more accurate, and thus, more meaningful. I don't want to be right or seen as right in a small room just for the sake of saying I won. I want to actually improve my arguments until they're right in * every * room. Even before our exchange devolved and I pointed out your circular argument, I made several arguments about the substance of your post and spent well over an hour on it. I think I even spent over an hour researching and reading articles to support my claims and linked them at the bottom of my comment. You dismissed everything, I believe without ample justification, but it was clear you were not interested in constructive discourse. Feel free go on thinking you're right and attacking dissenters until the dissent fades away and you're left with rooms full of people who think you're wrong and not even worth correcting. I'm going to try to improve my mental health and only take part in constructive debate and really try to be disciplined to walk away the moment I realize that's not the case. Good luck with everything. I also do apologize for deleting my comment and thus, our exchange. I have stated before that I hated when people did that to me, so I'm sorry. It was a rash decision I made in an attempt to break free from negative, unconstructive exchanges, and a method of protecting me from my unhealthy desire to continue in such exchanges to a pyrrhic victory. Have a good day.

If I see an error, I usually delete the comment and repost if no one has replied to it yet. If I change a post, I document it as to prevent even an air of dishonesty (which I've only done once on a piece in progress that @TheMiddleWay was a tremendous help on). But edit files should only be txt files and quite small. I imagine all the edit files for a whole week would take up less space than one picture of a bare-chested woman.

What they do still have available is plenty of merchandise that accuses a former President and former Secretary of State of murder, so that's something. Either way, if they realized they were wrong for not policing their sellers' items and systematically went through the inventory to remove it, it took less than 10 days to get through it all, likely starting with the most dangerous items first, like Parler where people were actively using hate speech and plotting domestic terror attacks. If you are not happy it potentially took them up to 10 whole days, then fucking say that, but don't post demonstrably false, inflammatory, libelous shit under your name or on this site if you don't want people to call you out on your lies.

@TheMiddleWay Well, we're not going to get anywhere. That's pure nonsense. If your "mapping" is so loose that it ignores degrees of crimes, levels of depravity, or breadth of support coming from one's own camp we can't have any sort of meaningful conversation. What I can tell you is that your non-qualified-statement that the actions on both sides are isomorphic is horribly misleading to anyone who doesn't question you about it like I did. To me, and I imagine a majority of people, it would no different than shouting "OJ is INNOCENT" in 1994 without qualifying you are taking about him shaving points in a game and not a double homicide.

And in the second you said, "if a betrayal would further his agenda". I don't really know what you're trying to say. There * are * degrees to crimes and additional crimes * do * change the nature of the situation. To pretend they don't is incomprehensible equivocation. I'm not saying you can't condemn reprehensible behavior of Democrats. By all means, have at it. I'm just saying it's intellectually dishonest to claim they are essentially the same when they are anything but.

@TheMiddleWay Not exactly, but commensurate. Not sure what violence you're taking about, or who promoted it, or what your definition of promotion is though. If we're taking about BLM protests like the equivocators at Fox like to drone on about, and you are saying statements like 'I understand why people are rioting when there is clear evidence of systemic racism and no movement on it whatsoever' are supporting it, I think that's horribly disingenuous. Did "liberal media" actively condone it, call them patriots, etc? Were there liberal leaders inciting the violence at the protests? Did liberal groups collect huge sums of money for violent perpetrators? Maybe I missed all that. It's possible, I don't follow the news closely at all. But until you can really find counterparts for all the most egregious shit the Right does, I think you're lying to yourself and everyone else here when you say they're two sides of the same coin.

I'm really not trying to whataboutism this, but I literally believe we are headed for a civil war (so do they considering some of the terrorists even had Civil War 2 hoodies printed up) and we currently have a portion of our membership (including @Admin) that actively denies truth and logic surrounding these events. If I live and we still have a country, maybe I'll muster the desire to give it a deep dive. I will say that women at my work objectify the fuck out of men and say some really raunchy shit. I'm pretty neutral and unoffendable at work so I'm privy to a lot of it. Just yesterday, they openly admitted they are way worse than guys. I asked why they thought guys get the finger wagging for it, and they said it's because of the power dynamic and all of the sexual assault levels they bring with it. Fair point. P.S. Just as I was about to hit send I thought we need to pick one way to respond to boobs and carry it through. Either boobs are sexual things we need to protect people from and they need to be covered in public etc. or chests are chests, guy or girl, and no rule or norm about one should be different than for the other.

I tried multiple times with very clear examples why that made no sense and he was "100% Absolutely" impervious to reason. I'm sorry there's such a negative connotation to the word 'dumb'. There shouldn't be. No one chooses their level of intelligence any more than how tall they are or the color of their eyes. But it's no less factual that there are dumb people. It's the Dunning-Kruger that goes along with it that's the real problem. @CourtJester First of all, your side said there * isn't * a difference between people and corporations in a little inconsequential ruling called Citizens United v FEC. Secondly, a * business * isn't taking out the ad, an actual person does it, so why can't that actual person that wants to say that actual thing claim that it's their right to say it? See how your no rules thing gets kinda stupid? Third, even if you want to claim a "business" can't deceive and that that somehow doesn't contradict your claim that 100% absolutely people should be allowed to say whatever, wherever, whenever, however they want with no consequences, does that mean an individual can deceive people all they want with impunity? Finally, you didn't address any of my "non-business-related" points. Should billionaires be allowed to put out statements that encourage people to kidnap your mother and get a video of a horse fucking her in the ass by offering a billion dollars to the first person that posts a video of horse ass rape on the new website that champions free speech: Parler2WeAreAllAboutHorseFucking.com? @Canndue Don't put too much thought into it or let it make you sad. Think about all of the things that your parents and grandparents enjoyed that weren't really things anymore when you grew up and you never missed those. So while you might wish that your children or grandchildren could see a rhino or tiger, they might care about that as much as you care about using a victrola or sending a telegram. (Sorry, I don't really know what animals went extinct when.) Another point I like to make about conservation efforts for species is that it requires a vast amount of resources. If those same resources were instead spent on fighting climate change, who knows how many more species we could prevent from going extinct instead of just the one.
