@Alienbeing Saying that it is not apparent at all that no one gets your point is an insinuation that some do. I don't care what someone like you thinks of my behavior/responses as you are not one of the several people here whose opinions I value and trust.

@barjoe While I hope it's not likely, all of those are possible. Given the findings of V-Dem, (an organization that monitors the health of democracies around the world) mainly that only 20% of democracies that get to the point we're at now remain a democracy, I would say the coup is most likely. I read article recently that stated that America is primed and ready to be taken over by autocratic rule, but that Donald Trump is likely too stupid and ineffective to be that autocrat. Autocratic rule that rises from a democracy usually has overwhelming support of the people at least at first. He could have managed the pandemic better, provided better economic relief from the associated hardships, not shit on beloved leaders, not told counties they weren't important enough to visit, basically not been a vile shitbag every fucking day of his presidency, and he'd have EASILY had 4 more years to transform our institutions to ready his permanent leadership. (Remember, it only took Hitler about 3 years or so, but he was obviously way smarter and an infinitely better speaker.) If he does not manage to take over the US now, I would be exactly 0% surprised if the United States was a dictatorship some time between 2025-2033. I think one of the biggest things that will support that happening is that almost everyone thinks the "world's oldest and greatest democracy" couldn't possibly ever crumble, so all the little changes that need to happen won't really alarm the vast majority of people, and the few people that speak out trying to warn everyone will just be Chicken Littles.

I hate it. The only kind of people I want counting my money are short guys that wear yarmulkes every day. … I think that the guy is lazy. And it’s probably not his fault, because laziness is a trait in blacks. It really is, I believe that. @Freedompath I would like it if I had a life in a world I didn't find detestable. I imagine if I hadn't lost the love of my life I'd probably be distracted enough that my desire to die wouldn't consume my every waking idle thought. (I mean, when we were together it didn't, so I assume that would have held true.) And I don't think I hate myself. I judge morality based on one's threshold to resist their innate selfishness. I believe I have a much better than average threshold so I feel like I'm a pretty good person. It's hard to detail all the reasons I don't want to be alive anymore, mostly because the reasons I think I know may not be the actual reasons or all of the reasons. What I do know is that every night I fall asleep to the hope that I don't wake up and every morning I'm devastated when I do.

@Freedompath That's part of the problem. I don't have a sphere of influence that would be affected much. My brother committed suicide, and it was pretty hard on my mom. I hope I don't go until after she's gone (not that I have a say either way), but the few that would miss me a little should be as happy for me that I wasn't suffering as they were sad I was gone. That's how I feel about my brother. I know how much pain he was in, and as much as I miss him or wish I could talk to him, I know it would be really selfish of me if I could have guilted him into staying.

@Klodzan They makes sense, but I'd still say that a belief about what you can know and a belief about if god exists are different. One is still about knowledge of god and the other is about belief in a deity itself. It's basically just adding extra words that don't change the meaning. For example, compare these two statements: I believe Trump wants to fuck his daughter. I know I believe Trump wants to fuck his daughter. Those are both statements of belief. Knowledge that you have the belief is not the same as knowledge about the belief itself. As much as people * think * or * state * that they know something that can't be known, it is still a statement of belief. People KNOW that Clinton and other Democrats run a giant pedophile ring or that the Earth is flat. Clearly, no matter how it's worded, those are nothing beyond statements of belief. Basically, people use a shorthand (possibly unknowingly). The statement 'god exists' is actually short for 'I believe god exists'. This leads us to a comment a few posts up. 'I didn't know if he was real' is not a statement of uncertainty of knowledge, it's a statement of uncertainty of what is believed, thus it is a statement about how theistic they are, not whether or not they were agnostic.

ChestRockfield replies on Nov 2, 2020:
@FearlessFly What you stated in response and all three links agree that emotions are uncontrollable. Being able to control your response to them or actions you take is up for debate * I guess *. So I'm not sure what we're debating here. To me, and anyone else who really gives it some thought, the whole premise of giving someone power over your feelings is nonsensical. If you agree that you cannot control them, then the thought that you could give away the power over them that you never had is just plain silly. It makes as much sense as telling someone with IBS to reclaim dominion over the smooth muscle contractions of their gut. So if you want to call it shifting the blame, that's fine, that's simply semantics at this point. The fact of the matter is since one has no control over their own feelings, others * do * have the power to make you feel certain ways. The 'you make me feel X when you Z' and 'when you Z, I feel X' is nothing more than a semantical difference as well. The reason I italicized 'I guess' is because I know free will isn't up for intelligent debate, but since so many people don't know that, I find it easier to argue from a position that it is still debatable when it is inconsequential to the discussion. Since I am not making any claims about actions that result from feelings, the free will aspect doesn't come into play. My claim was simply that you have zero control over your feelings. You agreed, and your articles support that conclusion as well.
