Especially for Republicans, who are constantly touting how much they love living in a free Democracy, they can't recognize the difference between a "bad option" and a democracy-ending one. Unless you choose it. Which I also don't believe is possible because I don't believe in choice. While a agree with what you said about how your lack of belief and disbelief does not change your actions (which I assume is true of most atheists and/or agnostics) I don't believe that it doesn't change the actions of theists. I actually think it's readily apparent that theists act in a manner that is, at times, informed by their belief in god. The clearest and most pressing example I feel would be the election in November in the US. There are likely tens of millions of people in the country that could very well weigh the implications of their religious beliefs when casting their ballot. Which candidate will be more likely to appoint pro-life judges to end abortion? Which candidate will more likely infringe on my religious freedoms? Which candidate do I think believes in god the way I do? Which candidate will promote a false god and Sharia law? The true answers to these questions don't even matter, really. What matters is that the questions and the individual's beliefs about the answers are considered when making a selection. You may have the extremely rare ability to take no stance on any way on your belief in the existence of god, but most of us do not have that luxury or ability.

I think we need to be careful about attributing the us-ness of humans to 'energy' and then conflating the energy in our bodies with the the word energy as used in the laws of thermodynamics. While there is always energy in our bodies (while alive) it's not "the same" energy the whole time we're alive. The "man" openly states his willingness to collude with foreign powers to increase his odds of winning and is actively sabotaging institutions to those same ends.
