One of the reasons is because that’s all they know how to do. A big example........when former Pres. Obama enacted the Affordable Care Act, The GOP railed against it as “Goverment takeover of health care” to “Leaving grandma to die”.......we heard it all. Rarely a day would ever go by without hearing how they were pledging to their base they would “Repeal it with something more efficient” and cheaper, and everything so bad and wrong about it. Then when finally getting their opportunity to do so after the 2016 election, with full control of the Federal Gov’t, it amounted to a Laurel and Hardy, Three Stooges Clownshow on the house and senate chamber floors times 100 and for over 6 months getting tied up in knots and divisions, they failed spectacularly. IMO this was one of the most embarrassing legislative bungles in history, especially after promising countless times over 7 years and to fail the way it did. And look at the states that are controlled by the GOP. Kentucky, Alabama, Mississippi, Oklahoma are among the poorest in the country, with more people using food stamps and other public assistance “Socialist Programs” they claim to hate so much.
